What old one? They've changed it about four times. I think the new one looks great.

The new intro looks great IMO.

Only seen the first episode which was OK for most part but they dragged the stuff with Cartman on the phone too long.

The last two episodes have been pretty great! World War Zimmerman especially.

Apparently for the first time ever South Park has missed it's six days to air deadline and has had to be postponed:

This old Scott Tenorman Must Die episode highlights how shit the modern day ones really are - there are no laughs anymore, and they resorted to covering news events as a cheap way of coming up with a plotline (disguised as "biting satire")

The old ones concentrated on the characters and the world itself. So I have started from the start again. These ones are head and shoulders above the new ones... their hearts are definitely not in it anymore.

Watching a single older episode confirms this... there is a major contrast.
To be fair Scott Tenorman Must Die is one of their best episodes so a lot of them seem shit in comparison. I'd agree the season average has dipped but it's still one of the only shows to get more than a wry smile out of me.

SP for still has it, seen a few of series 17 and I thought they were pretty funny, haven't WW Zimmerman yet but it sounds like a goodun to me. Personal fav is the internet down episode with the FEMA camps and the star of the show Randy with his wanking ecto-plasm excuses, haven't seen that one in a while but thinking about it has me in stitches.

I'm a bit wary of watching SP at the moment - I thought the last two seasons were a massive drop off in quality so I don't really want to be proven right if the new episodes aren't up to snuff.

They're still capable of gems every now and then (1%, Insecurity, TMI) but the quality/shit ratio has finally tipped the wrong way imo. There's about 5-6 episodes in total from the last couple of seasons I've watched more than twice.

Going to give some S17 episodes a try tonight and I'm crossing my fingers I'm proved wrong.

Also - Bit of a cheap shot on The Simpsons when SP has hit just as low as the new episodes in the past (Million Little Fibres, Funnybot, Going Native). I'd also say SP has arguably never been as great as The Simpsons was in its' heyday, nor as consistent.

The above sounds like a massive whine - I really do love South Park, just a little concerned :p

It's still got it AFAIC. It's uneven, but its lows are never really lows and its highs are far higher than other seventeen-year-old TV programmes' are.

The newest goth one is not one of their best moments. No Randy or Cartman eps are always the weakest. Raised a couple of smiles and even a chuckle or two from me although that was mainly due to the black dude.

Looking forward to next weeks Ike episode.

Okay, guy. You better tell the mods on here to lock all the rating threads, and tell reviewers around the world that they're in a meaningless occupation.

Can you tell us more about how much you hate recent South Park instead?

Stop moaning about how everything was better back in the day. It is truly meaningless.

I've not seen the Goth episode yet but a mate showed me the intro on the weekend and I was nearly crying with laughter - whoever did that Robert Smith impression deserves a raise.
