I think that should be ok, maybe a bit too high to start with unless it scales to your level. I did the Pirate DLC straight after finishing the game and going on to TVHM. I may have started at low 30s rather than 35.

I finished that and went on to Torgue from late 30's to 44.

All of which was fine. Soon it'll be on to Hammerlock's stuff.

You can start TVHM on that level, but will need to get better guns ASAP. You probably have level 30 guns from the end of PT1, and will start off facing enemies of 32 and up.

A rose by any other name

I have recently had to sell the gun due to being underpowered, and you know what. I miss her.

I actually miss her, she got me through a lot. Can't wait to reacquire it on next playthrough.

    Which class do people recommend?
I gave up Borderlands at Lv 25 or so as I was struggling and getting bored.

I just started a quick play of Borderlands 2 with the assassin but I'm unsure.

Tanks don't appeal, why do you recommend Siren over the other 2?

Commando is fun if you like turrets (which I do), but a bit boring.

Very handy for playing solo which I mostly tend to do, due to the extra help the turret gives for second winds and being a distraction and such like.

I think gunzerker would be quite fun and the mechromancer seems to be giving quite a few folk a lot of enjoyment too.

Commando and Mechromancer have passive abilities, that is, you activate the action skill and the AI does the rest of the job.

Gunzerker and Siren are the two most fun classes imo. Siren because I love phaselock, it's satisfying and powerful. Ruin is one of the best skills in the whole game. She's also the best with elementals, which you see the full value of in PT2.

Gunzerker is great too, if just for the pure amount of damage output you have while gunzerking.

I like the mechromancer in PT1 and the middle tree. All the electrical skills play out well if you like to get in peoples faces with a 1-2 shot fast reloading tediore shotty.

    Increase chance of electrical effects
Send out an electrical blast on each reload (reason for the 1-2 shot shotgun).
Finish an enemy with a critical (highliy likely with a shotty up close) and they burst into an electrical storm
Feeding off that, they also have a chance to catch fire when being electrocuted.

I waltzed caustic caverns without even using the robot action skill and it was electrically awesome.

Gunzerker is definitely the most fun and useful for soloing IMO. His ability is very useful for getting out of scrapes when you're low on health and/or ammo.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Mechromancer looks fantastic in the trailer but it's another 6 quid, I only paid 12 quid for the whole game..

You can't really go far wrong with any of them. The Assassin is probably a bit harder to play as, and you're more likely to die a lot and get frustrated and give up if you play as him.

Yeah the assassin is the least enjoyable character to play IMO.

My advise would be to take each character through the starting area, then pick the one you enjoy the most.

Another vote for The Mechromancer. Deathtrap is brilliant, as it the Anarchy skill stacking up into the hundreds after successive kills without dying.

Zero can be a hell of a lot of fun. Law & Order build can make him nigh on invincible.

The Law and Order build puzzles me - how can you get Law and Order at levels that are comparable?

Wait until you've completed the game on TVHM before you initiate the sidequests to obtain them. Then both be will be level 50. The Law regardless of level will always have the the extra 100% melee damage.

Thanks...so I just let those crazy kids point guns at each other for days on end. Heh. I think I have a character on TVHM who's not reached the Order mission yet, so should be OK. I'll look for an artifact that boosts melee too and see if I can't ghost-kunai-then-one-hit-melee-kill any bosses. Should be fun

I played Zer0 as melee (right skill tree) up until level 31 and found it to be a lot of fun. I respec'ed for TVHM though as you need the equipment aids to keep you alive and add to power. Instead I went with maximising shot power and getting away if need be.

Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I found zero too easy, I put all my points on the red bloodshed? Tree and he was crazy powerful. The only other points were fun on reload speed and gun swap talent.

Zer0's Bloodshed tree is immense fun during PT1 and HUGELY powerful (you can potentially one-shot badasses for a start), but is pretty much unviable on TVHM unless you use the Law & Order setup.

TVHM was the hardest thing ever with my Bloodshed Zer0, but found it fine after respeccing down the middle tree. Even the Mechro's shock tree has been more effective on TVHM, which has surprised me what with all the shock resistances.

All the characters are great, it's a well balanced game and I wouldn't say any stand out as better. It depends on your play style. Zer0 can be tough solo, I'd recommend him in a multiplayer game, but unless you're amazing with a sniper rifle, the Cunning tree is the way to go. The Kunai skill is great and will fuck almost anything up. Definitely use Kunai for PT2, unless you're a masochist. :D
  • Deleted user 30 January 2013 21:31:50
Once the bloodshed tree was fun I could hurt a pack of enemies with guns then cloak and charge kill and re cloak until everyone dead :)

Enjoying siren more, I like to be the helper.

Interesting reading this. I've been on the left hand tree with my Assassin all the way up to Level 48. Should maybe try respeccing down the middle! I have played most of it with someone else allowing me to nail the crits and get the ever expanding bonuses though.

By the sounds of it I should have used the right hand tree for the PT1 playthrough and unless I've got a decent level 49/50 Law and Order combo it won't quite hack it? Sounds like these Kunai are where it's at?

Yeah the kunai are great. He throws a handfull of 4 kunai each time, and you can throw 5 lost per deception. Each one does normal damage, a random element damage, and explosive damage, and if you hit with 15-20 of them, the damage is significant. Enough to bring down any Super Badass in one lot. Best of all is they don't take you out of deception. They also apply death mark, which makes all your other attacks do 20% more damage. It's the same tree as Ambush (20% extra damage to attacks from behind), so you can use deception to get behind them, throw every kunai and get your last second attack in. The action skill recharges fast enough that you can use them constantly.

    Kunai is where it's at.

Interesting Zero tip, Roid damage is also applied to all your Kunai.
