Axton is the best character. Go down the middle path for the most fun.

*Pops into thread to see if people are discussing the new DLC announcement*

*Sees ecureuil STILL whinging about the loot system*

    *Pops back out again*

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Looks pretty good anyway. There's a 15 minute gameplay video over on gamespot, I just hope they're not too heavy on the arena stuff. The video got me hyped for playing it anyway, and it's out next Tuesday so we don't have to wait long. Still no level cap increase.

    Really?
I think he's really boring now. I was never a sniper in the first which is why i chose him but I love it in this and he just seems underpowered.

Im only lvl25 now but the max I can seem to get for crits is 7.5k.  Hoping for a sizable bump when I start putting points in ranger.

I had more fun as Gaige. Anarchy forced me into playing in a much more aggressive play style. No more picking them off from a distance, run in screaming like Rambo and unload in some bandit faces :D

Siren for me. Spec all the way into the right tree and enough down the middle tree into RES. Lots of healing and lots of slag/elemental damage. Also firey wings.

I have 4 characters above level 30 and Axton is the best sniper of them all imo because his turret distracts all the enemies. You won't notice any difference in sniping between any of the characters except Zero if you spec down his sniper tree, but its his worst skill tree and leaves you really vulnerable. You'll gain sniper crit damage but lose damage with everything else.

This. Funny that Gearbox fixing exploits causes such outrage.
Instead -or in addition to- of fixing the only way to kill these bosses solo, they could have fixed the Matchmaking so that you could actually kill these bosses in a group..

Currently the browser only shows what quest people are on, and not which area they are in, which would make much more sense considering you can only complete most quests once. For example, I was trying to find a group to kill the Warrior, and I couldn't join any of the groups that were on "Talon of God" because they were all actually doing the DLC areas.

My solution: I'm just going to ignore the end game bosses, because a.) finding a random group for them is currently impossible and b.) they are just horribly, horribly annoying to fight in a normal fashion anyway.

I mean, what game am I describing: "Join a group of people to kill a boss every 24 hours, to earn (insert game currency). Do this every day for two weeks and you'll have enough (insert game currency) to buy a nice item from a vendor"?

Borderlands 2? Or World of Warcraft? I don't understand why they keep copying the worst bits from MMOs. Originally the whole "slowly earn currency to buy items" was meant to prevent runs of bad luck. You know, "kill dude again and again, if item doesn't drop, you can buy a replacement". Instead they've all implemented a system where the token vendor offers unique or "best in class" items, making it a must for min-maxers.

Don't get me wrong, I like this game, a lot. I just think they've failed to do what they said they would, which was to create a game people would keep playing for years with their friends or having fun with random people. Instead, they just made a nice single-player game that people play once or twice, then walk away.

Really, the vendors are nowhere near as useful as the ones in BL1 to me. I did find a legendary shield in one yesterday, but they all seem to be whites, with a few greens for the most part.

Pretty much this. And the loot system is directly responsible.

New DLC has a shop that always gives you a legendary as item of the day. Though you can only purchase using the torgue currency, which will probably be as annoying to collect as seraph crystals.
Especially if you only get them in the sucky arena

In the gamespot video, the legendary in the shop goes for 613 Torgue points, and it also shows the player being rewarded 25 Torgue points for turning a mission in. I guess you'll mainly get them for repeating the arena missions.

It's a Torgue vending machine, and in the video, the only guns it sells are Torgue.

The Torgue points are just like the eridium I think, you get them as rewards in chests and as drops. I'm sure with a bit of hard playing you'll explode enough stuff to get those weapons.

    Speaking of EXPLOSIONS...

What I'd like to know is why there needs to be so many types of currency. We've got cash, eridium, seraph crystals and now torgue points.

Maybe just stick to a few types Gearbox.

I remember them saying they had a further plan for Eridium too but it seems like it's just a currency for raid bosses atm.

it was after i stumbled on this video that started paying more attention to 'numbers' side of this game and ultimately getting annoyed with axton

Yeah Maya is good too. Truth is, after about level 35 they're all about as badass as each other. My level 50 commando build is an insanely powerful all-round character, his skills buff his general ability with all guns. It's his fast reload skills that appeal to me, and it really helps improve his general survivability. I'd say Axton has the best survivability of any character, his turret stays active in fight for your life, you can add a skill to throw grenades while in FFYL, as well as a skill that improves his movement speed and gun damage while he's down. The very fast reload speed is hugely beneficial in fight for your life mode.

Here's a picture of my level 50 build for Axton.
