    House of Cards - 9/10

Absolutely brilliant. My only disappointment is that no-one was a match for Underwood. It would be quite interesting to watch him go up against someone just as manipulative and ruthless.
Did you miss that Remy outplayed him twice already?

Remy didn't really outplay him - he just had more resources and more to play with.

Outplay maybe is the wrong word; he beat him twice then, which completely screwed up his plans. He also did it quite easily.

One thing I didn't like about House of Cards was the quick leap from "Franks a bit of a bastard, but he's just playing the game" to "Franks a murderer". There was a scene just after Russo's drunken interview where Frank says something along the lines of "Lets get him sorted out now, he's done his job". Just not sure the murder was even necessary and seemed slightly out of character, especially because the wife wasn't in on it at all

    Stargate SG-1 - Season 8

I'm still enjoying working my through this again. The dynamic between the team is good. Yes it's formulaic, but it's fun to watch.

    Code Geass:Lelouch of the Rebellion

    ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!

The Holy Empire of Britannia has started it's path of conquest by turning their sights on Japan under the leadership of 3rd Prince Clovis, deploying the brand new Knightmare Frame, Britannia crushed the Japanese army in a month, with Japan only winning one victory.Renamed to Area 11, the series kicks off 7 years later with Lelouch vi Britannia, an exiled Imperial Prince.

From the makers of Cowboy Bebop,Outlaw Star and Mobile Suit Gundam and set in an alterantive history, it's a very good 25 episode anime series some episodes are a bit pointless and you jsut wonder why they're there but otherwise I really rnjoyed this series and already have my pre order ready for the 2nd series on Blu-ray on the 11th March.

Anyone seen Braquo. Cop show set in Paris and made by a former cop. Adverts saying its a French version of the wire and the shield

Season 2 is written by writer of Mesrine and Prophet

Looks like it has gotten some good reviews

Anyone got any comments about it before I press the buy button :)

Star Trek Deep Space 9: Season 6

I love my star trek, but have to admit it's usually not great TV and I love it more than it deserves.

Season 6 of DS9 however is not just great trek, it's genuinely great tv and I can love it without having to overlook the usual trek foibles and flaws.

    Stargate SG-1 - Season 9

A much better season. While Mitchell isn't as good as O'Neil as the team leader, the Ori as a new enemy more than make up for it. They reinvigorate the show.

to everyone talking about house of cards - i'm just skimming through this thread so someone might have said already but it's based on a 1990 mini series done by the bbc, i think i happened to catch it by accident one time but it truly is an excellent piece of drama with one of the best political villains i can think of. it's well worth checking out.

I've run out of good TV series to watch it seems. Can anyone recommend a something new, something leaning more towards fiction?

Shows I'm up to date on and really enjoyed are Breaking Bad, True Blood, American Horror Story, Spartacus, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Homeland.

Problem is that's probably all the good ones.
Go old school and check out American Gothic and Millenium.

Also worth watching: Deadwood, West Wing, Spartacus, Six Feet Under

Battlestar Galactica is pretty awesome too. Though depending on your take on the finale you may return to inform us it took part in the Jimmy Saville Shenanigans. Not really new though, but screw it :p

Is BG worth trying if I'm really not a scifi fan?

Yes. You'll probably hate it though.

Firefly is a good shout, but be prepared for tears.

It's more about the characters than the sci-fi stuff. I even felt it was so focused on that at times it was of detriment to the sci-fi side, before it properly clicked with me. Still no guarantee, mind, and I think you'll definitely hate how it ends!

Louie: Watched Seasons 1 & 2 very quickly and am sure I will finish 3 quickly.

The laziest way of describing it would be Curb meets Seinfeld (each episode features a bit of Louis CK stand-up and is kind of set in a representation of his real life in NY). It's a very hard show to pin down though and I really like how the format/tone varies from episode to episode - sometimes it is just funny but sometimes it feels quite profound even if you can't quite decode the message on a first watch. I've probably made it sound shit, and it's definitely 'easy viewing' even though I've made it sound the opposite.

    Spartacus: Vengeance - 9/10

Still fucking awesome, only slightly let down because of the new weaker lead. That's not really his fault as he would always struggle to replace the original.

    Walking Dead - 9/10

Started off slowly but really picks up towards the end. I think it benefits from having more episodes compared to the previous 6.

    Fringe Series 1-5

loved it, loved it, loved it.

had to suspend my disbelief at times and series 5 tested me fully with it's time travel plot line but it was the cast and characterisation that sucked my in. Walter was the most wonderful protagonist in any t.v. show, let alone a sci fi one, that i can remember in a long time. also the show had very few 'monster of the week' episodes, which i despise as i like to see the story line progress in every episode.
