    Kinky, I would think you will get enouth for your copy, even if you open and save very early (for bonus)then sell. I sold mine on Play last week for 18. I then ordered the new version for 14 from Amazon, :)
    Are people really still buying the original second hand for that much?! I didn't even pay that for my new copy two months ago!

    Sounds like the best option though, cheers.

    @kinky_mong As far as I can tell, it's disc only as there are no 'hooks' in the original code to allow for DLC. As such, the disc release is the full game plus the DLC.

    Yes, the bonus items will be available to those who have an existing DD save on their hard drives. (Although I expect that you'll be able to buy them at some future point).

    Your best bet is to have a quick blast of DD, get your save file sorted and then trade it in at Amazon. Currently you can pre order the the PS3 version for 13.99

    While you're there, you can trade in your current version for 10.40 (Xbox) or 10.80 (PS3) making the total cost of the new and improved Dragons Dogma a mere 3.20ish.

    Edit: Or what Duff said.

    @robthehermit Cheers, although checking Game they are offering 13 trade-in at the moment, which along with Anarchy Reigns that I'm planning on trading gives me a good chunk off of DmC which I've got my eye on.

    I'll definitely put a pre-order on Amazon though for Dark Arisen because that is a steal at that price!

    Fair do's. In fact, I might just take my games into town with me on Saturday, rather than send them to Amazon. It means I'll have to spend money there, but does mean I can go home with the Assassins Creed Bro & Rev double pack.

    I had some credit with Amazon so pre-ordering Dark Arisen has cost me just over 2 pounds. I've currently got my copy listed to sell through Amazon for 20,but I may drop the price a bit as it hasn't shifted in the five odd days since I listed it. Failing all that, I'll just trade it directly with them and get the credit added to my account.

    And my second hand copy of DD has just sold via Amazon Marketplace for 20 plus p&p. Some people are such suckers :)

    Ok, think I need some advice here, almost about to give up on my third attempt to get into this...

    I seem to hit a brink wall with this every time I start playing again, I get to about level 12, reach Gran Soren but from the point onwards I find it almost impossible to get any further due to just getting my ass kicked where ever I go. Am I doing something wrong? I've changed to Easy but is this the point in the game I should be going somewhere or doing something that hasn't been explained in game?

    Really want to be into this game but its starting to try my patience so any tips would be ver welcome.

    @M83J01P97

    I had a similar problem in the early-ish stages with everything kicking my arse. What I did was recruit a couple of high-level mage pawns from people on my friends list (unlike random pawns, you don't have to pay any rift crystals) and let them take care of business until I was more comfortable with the combat and had gained a few levels. You won't want them around forever, though, as you receive less EXP with high level pawns in tow. At some point the pendulum swung and nothing posed much of a challenge. The game has an odd difficulty curve.

    Hopefully you have a couple of friends who've played through the game, or you find some other way to get manage the difficulty. It's worth sticking with.

    Cheers, not sure I know anyone else who has played through this, but will look at investing in a few high level pawns. What's the best sort of party make up if I'm a strider with a fighter main pawn?

    I would recommend a Mage and a sorcerer. Make sure they have fire affinity as their main perks, which will help you deal more damage. Make sure you invest in 3 fold etc arrows when picking your skills.

    And make sure everyone in the party has loads of curatives in their inventory. And when things go pear shaped, press left or right on the d-pad which will force them to eat the curatives and heal themselves ( they tend to not bother unless you do this)

    I was a fighter/warrior with a ranger/strider pawn, and recruited a mage and a sorcerer, which served me well throughout the game.

    Random high level pawns are prohibitively expensive so if no-one on your friends list has played the game (their pawns will be standing around when you enter the pawn realm thing) then it might be worth adding some people here or on other forums so you can use and abuse their followers for free >:-D

    Here you go

    I'm not on the list but feel free to add me if you want to use my level 50-ish ranger pawn. My gamertag is in my profile.

    Although, come to think of it, I started a new game and so I'm not sure what my pawn's status is at the moment.

    Think my pawn was a mage/sorcerer specialising in healing, and he should be around lvl 7080. Gamer tag is "Restart Reborn" if you want to use him.

    Hi buddy! Got your Friend Request just now, always good to see more people enjoying this game!

    My pawn is Orenda, she's a funky powerful Mage but be warned, she is around lvl.117 if I remember correctly so may be a tad overpowered if you're early on in the game! Always good for a backup in a tight spot though and for more regular use once you've gained a few levels!

    I can heartily recommend some of the other Xbox EG pawns too, some really great allies! I've also heard rumours of a disco-tastic legend called Uncle Vyrt on the PS3 version too ;)

    @Rodriguez

    Cheers, I think it was your mage I recruited last night. Think this is starting to click for me now, one more question though... at what point should I consider changing vocation? I want to give Magik Archer a try, but I'm sure I remember reading in a review somewhere that you shouldn't switch vocation until you have maxed out your current one?

    Snoosnoo is not very powerful, but she tries.you are welcome to use her. I will get back into the game when the new content is out. If you do use her, don't be tight with the gifts ;-)

    @M83J01P97

    Don't know where you read that review but I'd discard what they said about not switching occupations till you've maxed them ;)

    Changing occupations is a great way to not only find a play style you like, but also add extra skills to your character. It's been a while since I've played, but there is a certain 'group' of skills that can 'cross over' to any occupation as they're not directly specific to those occupations.

    You still get 'dedicated' skills to use depending on which occupation you pick but they're boosted by the 'other' skills you can add. For example, my Mage pawn Orenda has a top level skill that could only be acquired by taking her right through the Sorcerer occupation - a skill that speeds up magic casting. Once I'd got that skill I immediately switched her back to being a Mage only now her healing and other support spells could be cast much faster!

    If you were going to be a Magic Archer you could probably even consider dipping into the Magic class occupations to boost your magic stats and/or a different ranged class to boost stats that will help with archery skills, before switching back to your chosen class to take advantage of the extra goodness!

    *Keep in mind though, that certain armour and weapons can only be used by specific occupations so make sure you don't leave yourself vulnerable if you switch to a class you have little equipment for!*

    Apologies if any of that sounds confusing, like I said I haven't played since last year! There's also the Dragon's Dogma Wiki aught you need anymore information ;) Also, if you come across a character called Rook - don't trust him....

    Cheers, I think I'll switch to Magic Archer for a bit then, I got that DLC pack which adds some level 2 equipment for all classes to your storage so I should be fine for gear.

    Isn't the Rook the first pawn you get? I got rid of him ages ago...

    That's my pawn :)

    He has literally been transported from the 1970's, with an awesome moustache to boot :)

    He's probably around level 20-30 iirc (could be miles off there, not loaded it for ages)

    He's pretty useful and will keep your party alive quite well

    Would someone still playing this game be so kind to add me to their friendlist. Both to hire my pawn and so i can hire a relatively low level pawn from people.

    My pawn is currently a fighter, with a aim to make him a warrior with magic atributes.
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 19:23:15
    @YenooR hey man. There'll probably be a better chance when Dark Arisen comes out as I'd say more may be online fighting him. Still it's always the one illusive trophy that's the most satisfying to bag eh ;-)

    Loving the game so far, although it is rather easy at the beginning, drove off the hydra at level 2 with only rook and my fighter losing 0 health.

    Does it become more challenging later on?

    Going in the sewers with basic equipment and 2 paws was a bad idea.... i could take on 7 of them and then i died.
