Am really loving this game, managed to get a solid couple of hours on it last night and had my first overnight journey in the wilds.

Leading my battered group through the woods desperately looking for shelter after being mauled by a chimera and thumped by a cyclops has to be one of the stand out moments so far.

Really like the way armour is handled in this game too, the number of options and the amount of time you tend to keep it seems very nicely balanced.

Quick question about armour: I've seen loads of fairly low level pawns for hire wearing quite neat looking shiny armour and a long white cloak - is this some kind of DLC or pre-order bonus? I can't find anything similar in game so far, or have I just been looking in the wrong places?

Find cloaks in shops and as loot, plus shops get more items as you do more story quests,

Best sorcerer wand I got was from loot still haven't found anything as powerful in the shops yet.

Ah, maybe they're story items then. I've found cloaks etc. in shops but they're small affairs - the ones I've seen a lot of on pawns for hire is some full length job.

Not that far into the story quests - have only just found the pawn guild.

@henro_ben - That sounds like the Captain's armour set. I believe it's DLC, though I haven't bought it myself.

    Ha

That JRock is all kinds of ridiculous awesome.

    Erm...

Shortly followed by: 'There are regular deliveries of DLC planned. LOOK. FORWARD. TO. IT! Go on: LOOK FORWARD TO IT!!!
It's even more annoying (but not surprising) that it's all on-disc.

That's Capcom for you I guess.

Played for about an hour or so last night. There is a lot of tearing and pop in but overall I thought the graphics were actually pretty good. I've heard a lot of criticism levelled at the visuals but I think they're more than good enough for what is an open world game. I absolutely loved the fact that I can enter houses without loading screens, that for me is a revelation in itself.

I'm playing as a Strider class and after tinkering with the controls and fighting a cyclops I tured off. So far so good. don't b

Well this is Capcoms first real open world game isn't it? So is a learning process, if they get more experience, better designers, a sequel could get better and better

Plus that Jap Rock music, well is so out of place that first time I thought WTF then for some strange reason it felt right, even tho it looked a western game that showed off its japanese roots.

That music on paper sounds the same as Philadelphia low fat cheese chocolate spread, shouldn't work but it actually does :)

It's not a capcom game without some cheesy J-rock.

    Now with 80% more Cthulhu!

I hope there's a positive to having a female pawn besides being able to check out her camel-toe in the new pervy outfit I put her in. Was exploring a dungeon last night and heard the unmistakable grunts of an Ogre, which went fucking berserk around my pawn and laid waste to my party.
Loving this game but still getting itchy feet with class and vocations and changing weapons, armour and powers around is a bit of a faff. I'm settling on a Magic Archer main with a Mage support pawn and a couple of Fighter thugs as hired pawns. Thank god for Bokur is all I'll say.

    Fiat Lux

Finally beat the Ur-dragon in both offline and online mode. Holy jesus christ that isn't an enjoyable experience. Also used all the consumables I gathered from 2 game playthroughs.

Pro-tip for people when you get there - attack the fucking wings first, because when he frenzies they are impossible to hit.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go and pick up my phat epics

Nah when you kill the Ur-D you get 20 wakestones as a minimum and some high level items - The Abyssal Armour set and a selection of weapons (although there is no bow or Longbow).

I got Ascalaon, sword for Fighter, Assasin or Mystic Knight, 510 strength, 332 magic, 100% slash, 324 stagger and knockdown power with a Holy element.

I'm not entirely sure if you combine both the magic and the strengvth score for total damage, or if magic only comes into effect when you are say a Mystic Knight using a magic ability like grand cannon

    20 wakestones min?
All I got was a flask of oil, shank of meat and some gold.
But, granted, I didn't do much. Lol

Yeah the 20 wakestones are if you actually kill it, online or off. If you just run in and tickle the online one you won't get much of anything!

ok, so what's a good party formation? Is 4 of the same type viable? Or does it have to be a decent balance?

Anything is viable, the only major diference is if you don't have a mage youl'll have to use more curatives. Having a range of abilities and damage types in your party is obviously going to be preferred most of the time though.

Malestrom spell may like to cause carnage, but it has an OCD about stacking dead bodies in an orderly fashion. :)

Well see this is why I'm curious about the Magic + Strength thing because on Strength it isn't anyway near as good as my Dragonforged Carnation (I think that's 650-something), but if you add the two together, especially now that I've upgraded it twice, then it is better.

I've currently got a Warrior-Sorcerer-Mage-Strider group. I'd say that it's definitely useful to have a party made up of different classes to ensure you can handle most situations, with maybe no more than 2 of the same class in a group like, say, a Fighter-Fighter-Mage-Strider.

Some enemies are more susceptible to magic and others to physical damage, whilst some fly so having that ranged party member helps, so I personally think it's good to have variety.

You'll have to catch him at the right time. I found it easier to rest until morning and wait for him to show up for his preaching.
