Which is better? Metacritic scores both about the same.

Have tried the demo for splitsecond and enjoyed it, but the demo is far too easy. Is this an accurate representation of the full game? Or is it actually challenging?

Don't have the net at home atm so can't try a demo for blur (if there is one).

S/S, imo. It's one of the best arcade racers of the last few years.

    I really disliked Blur.

They're very different games; read the review of each to pick the one that sounds like what you want. Both are well made but are doing different things.

Split/Second if you can only get one. It was one of 2010's highlights for me.

Blur is better online because S/S is quite unbalanced. I didn't like Blur all that much but it is good; it just never clicked with me.

The two games are actually quite different and both are worth picking up as they are now pretty cheap.

Edit: S/S is quite challenging when you get further in. It does rubber band a lot so, ironically, you could have a bad race and win and have a good race and finish 5th.

    FLOPS! RAM!

Cheers for your opinions guys, am out and about shopping and was going to pick one up, but still undecided.

Will read the reviews and buy later I guess :)

Thought about motorstorm, but (apart from portal 2) haven't spent over £20 on a game in nearly 2 years and am now very reluctant to do so ... unless it's something "special

    @cw-

That is some good willpower. My resolution was to wait until games hit around 25 or lower before buying. It lasted until the end of January and I bought Dead Space 2.

S/S really was a standout game for me. I love the use of scenery as a weapon but online it did cause massive balancing issues. Sometimes you felt you had no way to catch up where as Blur does give you a chance.

As a single player game it is head-and-shoulders above Blur, for me at least.

    FLOPS! RAM!

I'd say Blur by a country mile, but then again I didn't click with Spilt/Second at all, which felt a bit like Flatout with all the best bits turned into set pieces. I preferred triggering my own carnage by knocking stuff down.

By all means they're both great though, I really think it's win either way. I just preferred Blur a lot more.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

I bought both; I don't have Blur any more but I do still have Split/Second - in fact, I played all of the single-player game (only 72 events). Blur I just didn't get on with - this whole "get x number of fans in a run" thing when there didn't appear to be any logic as to how; one run I'd get hardly any and another I'd get loads, with no idea why. Blur was good fun online, though. Split/Second's Detonator events get damn hard (or I'm just crap, I'm not ruling that out) to get 1st place in. I like it's twist on the weapons being the scenery and the pared-down HUD. If there was another one, I'd get it.

Try 13, it's a load different to the early stuff.

I've had blur since nearish release and still play it, single player will go in days but I'm legend level 9 online with about 8days play time. It goes on when mates are over and once they got the idea with mods and not braking for every corner they all got pretty good at it. Heh just checked a blog thing i signed up for with my stats, Blurs number 1 some 360voice site

Blurs single player is only good for unlocking cars for multiplayer imo, when you learn to play the game online you'll blitz the single player easily.

    Nah, Split Second.

Thought Blur was a bit shit, tbh.

Spit Second. Best Racer since Burnout 3. Blur was just a dull mario kart clone except with real cars.

Don't forget "exciting racing". In all these comparisons, a lot of people forget that Blur actually has exciting racing, unlike Split Second. It's also well balanced, unlike Mario Kart.

Split second does have far more interesting tracks though

The multi-player racing in Blur was (is) just brilliant. The only problem I had with it was the level design was a bit uninspired.

Haven't played Blur but I loooooved Split/Second. One of my favourite racers now (I'm shite at sims).

I'm not sure which I like more between that and Need for Speed HP, actually.

We're celebrating 75 years of Batman - and here's my look back at Rocksteady's Arkham series.

Me and my girlfriend preferred Split second to Blur for both singleplayer and split screen multiplayer (both PC versions)
