    link.

It took longer than I'm sure Sony would have liked, but as I've always said, it was always just a matter of time.

Well done for MS for lasting as long as it has.

I'm sure Psychotext will be here shortly and call it lolstats or something similar ... :).

Remember kids, be a multi format gamer (if you can afford to of course!) to experience the best games of this generation.

Sadly I can't afford to, nor do I have the time to play games as much as I used to these days.

I think the great thing for everyone is having 2 great consoles this generation going at it neck and neck.

I like it when he's angry.

It's wrong! WRONG, I tell you!

    /tries to care

...meh. It was probably always going to happen, given how poorly the 360 does in Japan.

Seriously? I guess it just plodded away in the background well enough to take over. I'm pretty sure I can smell the piss, shit and tears of a few forumites right now though. I suspect "But who cares?!" anytime soon.

My 360 gets way move love than my PS3. Can't wait for Uncharted 3 mind. Uncharted 2 was the last game I played on it.

No need to really. Most people with a brain will probably wait for Sony and Microsoft's next set of financial results rather than rely on guesswork from analysts.

And lol at what is probably the first time morriss has not made a thread on a piece of VG24/7 news.

He might have been too busy penning replies to the Gandhi thread?

It's a decent accomplishment, given what a joke the PS3 was seen as for a while. Sony have certainly turned it around over the years.

Maybe this will force MS to start making games again.

Now I've actually read the news item... your thread title is incorrect. The article doesn't actually say that the PS3 has sold more, it says...

the active install base of PS3s reached 43.4 million at the close of 2010 versus Xbox 360's 42.9.

Here's a new title for you:

"According to an analyst, the PS3 has passed the 360 in active install base"

I think you're a little too eager for the news...

"EA: PS3 makes us the same amount of money as the 360"
"PS3 and 360 gap is now just 3mill"
"With the PS3 slim, how long before the PS3 overtakes the 360.....?"

    :p

360 sales probably got a fair boost what with Kinect being released a quarter ago. Good on Sony though, released a few games people were right into and have a few more up their sleeve.

Impressive how Microsoft has been buying back millions of 360s from people to make their sales numbers go lower than they were a few months ago.
  • Deleted user 31 March 2011 23:25:57
These sales figures are from last year it seems fwiw.

So this "active user base" term implies that a not insignificant number of 360's are lying idle? Since it has sold more than PS3.

As long as they're good I'm fine with that.

Shame you can't read the summary of the report by Strategy Analytics; it would be interesting to see if they mention how the fuck they define 'active' and how in the holy fuck they determine a number.

Has Michael Pachter had anything to say on this matter yet?

    Colour me stunned if not.

  • Deleted user 31 March 2011 23:39:37
Meh I call bullshit. If not I really wouldn't call over 4 billion losses a massive victory really. That's in response to all the fanboys on the net.

Who needs them when we have the Michael Jackson Experience on Kinect.

Which is published by Ubisoft, making your post somewhat pointless.
