Official Site
Gameplay video

Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.

I'm pretty excited about this, it looks great and other than Armored Core the Mech genre has been pretty dead recently. This and Trenched could revive it (but probably won't).

I couldn't find a thread for this, so hopefully it's not duplicate.

I wish it was more of a stompy mech game but I'm incredibly impressed by the level of detail in the cityscape.

This, pretty much. A slightly slower pace, and it'd be instabuy for me. Still looks marvellous, mind.

From the FAQ:
What platform is it for?
This is unknown at this point. We are interested in bringing Hawken to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

sweet. this would be excellent on a console, where good mech games are in short supply. :)

This looks very interesting. The visual and sound design are some of the best I've seen and heard in a long time. I love the weighty feel of the mechs in the first person perspective, although they do seem a little floaty in the cinematic trailer. If they can get this right I'm in!

if there's no publisher at this time, i reeeeeally hope the don't go with EA. fuck using the EA system for online gaming. urgh!

This looks absolutely incredible. It's the sound design that does it for me, it's outstanding.

Shame it's multiplayer only (although totally understandable as an indie game) but I'm interested regardless. This is the way Armored Core should have gone after the PS1.

Hah !

Looks great, and glad because I found this image, minus the footer on a wallpaper thread last week, and thought it was fantastic design.

That it actually exists, as a Vanquish-infused AC, is great. I'll await the PC-only news with bated disappointment.

well if they're intending a 360/PS3 version to be published, you'll be disappointed. :p

Ahhh, good ol' DcP, missing the subtle undertone, and trying to act all superior.......

Intention isn't confirmation.

I laughed too. S'okay.
The overwhelming urge to correct my deliberately pessimistic post was just too much, eh ?

When did this start production, as I'm guessing D9 was an inspiration of sorts, with the fast paced mech comparisons, and the "boom" from the battleship engines(?) which sounds eerily similar ? Could've been lifted straight from the film. Also, from 2:00+ there's a point where the mech powers down, and flips to 3rd person. A disguise/decoy trick perhaps, blending into the scenery ? There's some nice touches in there.....

yup very impressive, considering only two people wrote it. lets hope a decent publisher picks it up,

OK, time to put that particular myth to rest. Still looks incredible, though.
• Deleted user 2 April 2011 17:10:36
actually that makes sense!

i still hope a decent publisher picks it up. if its EA and their lagy servers that take 10mins to log onto, i'll be done with the game regardless.

It has to be said, this game is beautiful looking so far. I think the way the devs are playing their cards close to their chests is probably quite shrewd -it really is speaking for itself.

I wonder how they're dealing with the risk of sniper mechs nicking everyone's kills in free for all?

I never played a mech game but I've always liked the idea of them; this might be the game to get me in to the genre.

As great as the environments look I wouldn't mind seeing some more destruction, I want it to feel like I'm in a mega future tank that can blow shit up. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Any meaningful destruction is a lot of work even for a major developer but I expect they could have some cosmetic destruction.

There's some subtle terrain detail damage there when the mechs stomp through stuff, but the structures themselves look pretty impervious to missile fire.

The game looks pretty graphically intensive as it is, without buildings crumbling around you. It'd be great, but I think it's an unrealistic expectation.
