This is actually stolen from a gamesfaq thread many moons ago but something recently made it all come screaming back.

I have just started a new job and in this job we use walkie talkies. EVERY single time I hear the radio click in I imagine the combine in Half Life 2 and look for the nearest crowbar.

    Honourable mentions:
Went through a phase of always hearing the 360 achievement 'ping' whenever I was out. Cross the road 'ping' 5 gamerscore :)
Every time I see a metal ladder on a wall I feel obliged to climb it.
Was in Malta having just played Assassins Creed and was contemplating the best way to scale a huge cathedral.

    Any examples from you weirdos?

You know you play too many games when....

Defeat is not getting knocked down, but refusing to get back up.

    I've just started geocaching.
Every time I find one I hear the Zelda fanfare, like when you find a treasure chest or heart....

You hear strange radio static (or something that sounds like it) and feel an instinctive fear because you know that horrible creatures are near.
And/ or you contemplate that it would be neat if your were actually able to visit Silent Hill over the hollidays.

Another classic is starting to dream in ASCII-Symbols because you were playing far to many rougelikes.

You have the theme music from tetris as your ringtone and the FF victory fanfare as your text alert and noone recognises it.

Snap with the text alert. Although changed it last week to the MGS codec signal sound :)

I'm sure we've had this thread before. But anyway, the obvious one with this is Tony Hawk's circa the third game (i.e. before it turned shit). That game really got its hooks into me and I couldn't see a railing irl without plotting grinds and all that.

You think you can play a real guitar or shoot a real gun because you can do so in a game.

You've suffered from the Tetris effect.

Actually I've never had this happen to me with Tetris, more Meteos (I can see blocks raining down in my sleep! Must...align...in groups of three...) and the ground moving up and down after extended Doshin the Giant sessions.

After playing the original Puzzle Quest too much, I found myself playing match-3 in my head with the bathroom floor pattern at work.

After playing Resonance of Fate for 12 hours straight I couldn't stop plotting different sized triangles and wanted to take a massive leap in my backgarden.

You attempt to reload your life when you fuck up.

I actually did this when I was younger and had been playing a lot of MGS, I think. I kept thinking 'Right, better reload now' after stupid things like missing a goal or sommin, then remembering that that wasn't real.

    'Sup, what's guanine?

When I was playing Morrowind a lot, I used to think of stealing people's things, as I would in the game. I'd see a friend's necklace on their nightstand and think, "oooh, if nobody's around, I'll just have that."

I once played Othello/Reversi too much - I was looking at the opening theory for the game, which is highly developed because it is much simpler than chess.

The next day I saw a bus stop queue while walking to Uni. A black man headed a line of white people. Another black person joined at the end. I imagined all the white people turning black.

You can't ever form a serious relationship because life is non-linear but you expect a linear connection between inputs and outputs. You also expect conversations to endlessly repeat until you find the "right" phrase to *win* the conversation.

    Alas.
