Emilia Clarke gets my vote - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2371596/Game-Of-Thrones-Emilia-Clarke-turns-heads-figure-hugging-red-number-leads-stars-Comic-Con.html

I'd be more than happy to plunge my iron sword into her accomadating throne. Or something.

I'm not expert when it comes to wigs and make up and stuff, but surely she has to cut her own hair right down in order to hide all of that under the blonde wig?

Done series three. Great stuff as usual. Only one other series has hooked me... Sopranos.

But, crap, another year to wait.

Some of the locations shots they have posted the last week are just amazing.

Iceland just looks so damn nice

They have filmed in that location before but just in case...

    Amazon exclusive Blu Ray

In this limited edition sculpture, Daenerysís dragon from the season 3 poster art takes center stage with its impressive wingspan and a highly detailed tail, which wraps around the core of the piece. Created in durable heavy weight material, the highly textured collectible is finished with a weathered patina evoking the feel of Westeros and a bygone era. The collectible also contains a hidden compartment which houses The Complete Third Season.

I liked it. I wonder if they thought people would pick up on the dead fish reference so cut it?

They did well IMO not giving the Red Wedding away.

I would rather had that scene than the Shae/Tyrion argument over Sansa being pretty.
But it seems they try to have Tyrion in at least once every episode bar the RW.
I know Dinklage is now the main star but sometimes I think they could have given that 3-5 minutes screen time to another character.

I'm glad they removed it. By GoT standards, that was a flaccid scene.

The symbolism is forced (and reveals too much). The dialogue is contrived. The delivery is stilted.

We already know about Pycelle's 'act' - it was revealed in season 1.
His vague promise to Tywin - that he'll go about the business of being a Lannister lackey with renewed vigour - is unconvincing* and not strictly necessary in terms of plot advancement. (There are other ways of alluding to Tywin and Pycelle's 'deal' without dedicating an entire scene to it.)

*unconvincing in terms of dialogue and delivery, not in terms of character - we already know he's an opportunistic toady - what I find hard to swallow is how quickly Tywin comes around. I dunno, their whole exchange rings false somehow.

It's interesting, certainly, and good fun to watch, but I can see why this particular scene was left on the cutting room floor.

Pycelle standing up like he did would have worked better if they hadn't done that scene with him and Ros in S1.

Still fits in I think. He could have easily known that Ros might be a pawn of Varys or Littlefinger, and doing that would have reinforced his image as a frail old man.

Still slowly trudging through the books. I'm on the first part of the Third book - A Storm of Swords. Jaime has just had his hand chopped off. ( Which in the book is random and happens the moment he meets the guy that does it...)
There's so much that's vastly different in the books. I won't name any in case there are any spoilers, but there are some pretty big things the series has missed out. Whether they will be put in elsewhere at a more appropriate time, I dunno...I hope so.

But it has made me realise what a great job they did with adapting it for TV. They've streamlined it and made many of the plotlines a lot simpler and more natural. The books really aren't very well written, the pace is all over the place and most of the dialogue is awful. Especially Robb Stark marrying, they made that so much more natural in the series. It makes no sense in the book (especially as I already know what's coming at the next wedding he goes to...) Also the whole Rickard Karstark debacle was poorly handled in the book.

However, more is made of Roose Bolton, which makes more sense. And also Beric Dondarrion, Thoros and his men are a myth talked about and feared by everyone in the book, which was lost in the series.
Theon is just as much of a c**t, btw.

I have to say that if I'd read the books first I would never have got as far as I have done, and I'd never have watched the series fearing it would be more of the same. I'm glad I watched the far superior series first. It's only curiosity and filling in blanks that's making me keep going with the books...

But I'm starting to get to the point at which the series is, and as the books timeline differs from the series, I'm wondering how far I should read...

    Book Discussion - Book Thread
    TV Discussion - TV Thread
Book and TV Discussion - Book Thread

Violate these informal rules will invoke the wrath of the EG Community, and thou will be smote! ;) Seriously though, I know you think it is stupid, and fair enough, but if it pisses people off consistently (even if you think it's stupid to get pissed off), just write in the book thread :p

To be fair you didn't write anything so bookwankerish that it'd frighten and piss off the natives (i.e. 'speculation' or book spoilers from the future), but considering the whole Baihu debacle, it would be much safer for you to stick to the book thread.

Personally I don't have a problem with what you've written, or with discussing the book material, as long as it doesn't outpace the TV series. But some people see "BOOK" and immediately grab their torches, so perhaps it's safer if you cease and desist. That, or face the wrath of the unwashed TV mob.

TBH, it's not exactly hard to piss off people in this thread; merely mentioning that books in general exist or speculating what a character my do in future is generally enough...

Speculation is a grey area though. If it's supported by actually having read the 'future' material (i.e. books after season 3), then it's just coy and obnoxious.
If it's made from a place of total ignorance, then it's fine.

There are a few people in here who could afford to be less pricky. Newcomers might be turned off if they look in here and just see people yelling at each other. Tact is needed. Yeah, it's the internet, but still.

Anyway, I'm usually against plastic tat with my disc releases, but my that s3 box set figurine looks lovely.
