So glad those links were broken by the time I got round to reading that page.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Imagine someone had chewed up a whole pork chop and then spat it down the back of a sofa. 4 years ago.

Also think the no true dragon comment was about Visery's been killed by fire. Suggesting it would not have hurt him if he was a true dragon and setting up the funeral pyre thing.
He wasn't really killed by fire though, but molten gold.

I'm not sure if Daenerys is completely fire resistant either, I get the impression she's rather more resistant than the average person (the hot bath in Ep1, and holding the hot dragon eggs) but that the end of season 1 was a one off miracle-thing. As far as I'm aware, there's no absolute word either way.

I don't think there's any actually Tagaryen history of them being traditionally fireproof, so much as Aerys being a bit mad about fire and Viserys calling it 'waking the dragon' when he had a hissy fit.

Erm, I think sitting in a 1000 degree plus pyre proves that.

    Holy shit.

That. That was an episode right there.

    One minor criticism, however:

The transition from the 'meat' of the story to Bran's story was jarring, in terms of the quality of acting on display. It really is - comparably - utter shite.

Perhaps my favourite moment was Tywin's expression of pride when Tyrion showed he was a force to reckon with in the small council chamber. It was almost heartwarming. Charles Dace really is a terrific actor - the father/son scene that followed was pitch perfect.

The tide is turning. It seems that, despite paying attention, we may get a happy ending after all.
Not that the tale is anywhere close to finished. I'm sure a lot of blood and tears still have to be shed before it's over. (If I sound optimistic, it's because this episode, overall, stood in stark contrast to the unrelenting bleakness that preceded it.)

Charles Dance maybe the best casting move they have made in the entire series.

    There's some stiff competition -

Ned Stark and King Robert (Mark Addy? Are you kidding m- oh, this really works, they've got chemistry, he's playing it really well, I'll shut up)
Stannis (who's this Stephen Dillane guy, I've never heard of him? He's not really grabbing me as Stannis, this is a rare casting mis-step - oh wait, he's really good!)
Bran - (one half of Robson and Jerome? Fuck off! Oh, he's nailing this, I'll shut up)
Tyrion himself - just because it was incredibly obvious to book readers that Peter Dinklage needed to be Tyrion didn't mean some casting director couldn't screw it up.
Also Jack Gleason is doing a spectacular job playing Joffrey - he might be the best casting decision they made, because he's been nailed on 'hateful little bastard but you can kind of see why and almost sympathise sometimes, oh wait he's a monster, oh wait there's a spark of humanity, oh wait he totally murdered up a prostitute with his crossbow' for three series now. I reckon actors with twice his experience would have done a worse job and just made him a one-note character.

Yes obviously I meant Bronn. It was late and I was tired.
Bronn's played by Robson Jerome, which turns out to be a piece of excellent casting. Bran's played by a random child actor who turns out to be not that great, although I'm not sure there's that much he can do with the role.

I actually miss the Ned/Robert scenes and the other day I suddenly realized Ned and Tyrion never had a scene together.

I very much disagree about Bran... in fact I'd argue that, aside from Arya and Sansa, every Stark child is a mediocre & wooden actor at best. Ygritte is a bit crap as well.
I'm not saying that they unequivocally suck balls, but the superb cast from King's Landing does make them look like rank amateurs.
Seems that the further away we get from King's Landing, the worse the performances get.

Daenerys I could understand but Khaleesi? that's just going to lead to yokels saying "Is you i-ranican?" for their entire lives.

    Portable view - Never forget.
