Yep, always looks like he's just about to shout 'The Blaaaaades', regardless of setting. Still, this could be epic, looking forward to it.

You leave Beano alone, you bastards!

He's the manliest of manly men on this whole manly world. Manly.

Yeah this is definitely right at the top of my 'to watch' list. There's a massive void in my TV interests left by Spartacus B&S, Spartacus GotA, 300, Lord of the Rings, Gladiator etc, etc. More medieval/ancient fantasy stuff please! ...preferably with boobs.

/ could quite happily watch medieval ancient fantasy shit all day.

I don't usually go for fantasy stuff much, but I think I'll give this one a go. If only because everyone else seems really excited about it. :-)

Try this and judge for yourself.

If I was 10 it'd probably make me have nightmares but YMMV.

Why would I want to watch 12 minutes of an HBO show, the brilliant thing about HBO is that there is no adverts breaking up your viewing experience. Let alone a fortnight!

Sweet, gonna watch that first 12 minutes later. That io9 site is awesome by the way!

Not usually an HBO supporter but I'll be watching this because a mate of mine's in it as one of the sword handlers/stuntfighters.

As for letting a 10 year old watch it, it's HBO so it will be:

    - sweary
    - violent
    - full of unneccesary T,C,V&A

To be fair, that sounds entirely faithful to the books.

I'm not sure what T, C, V or A are - but I'd imagine being it's HBO, there'll be boobies and a good deal of gore.

You probably don't want to get Sky for Sky Atlantic anytime soon then...

George R R Martin smacksdown the ending of LOST

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

I'm not sure why I'm surprised SKY Atlantic has adverts but I am. I'll just keep downloading and buying boxsets.

This does look pretty good, im always wary of fantasy based tv though. Its hard to pull off especially when it comes to creatures see DR who for example.

Aiden Gillen is excellent in the Wire, i couldnt belive it when i found out he is British. His American accent is impressive.

    Well yes.

But I know someone who was livid to see that the HBO stuff on Sky Atlantic has ad breaks.

Of course any sane person should have already bought The Sopranos/Six Feet Under etc on DVD a long time ago!

As noted by Damon Lindelof's tweets, he completely misunderstood the ending :)

Prepare to be even more flabbergasted when you learn he is actually Irish.

The 14 minutes of this I watched has persuaded me to give it a try, despite my irrational dislike for Sean Bean.

When is this airing in the UK, and what channel? I think I got about a third of the way through book three and then gave up. I was only ever reading it on the train...and it took me forever. Kept re-reading pages because I felt like I didn't really take anything in a lot of the time (especially on journeys home).
