Found mine the other day, which I never actually used as I bought it after the DS (very very cheap at the time). But trying to play Super Mario 3 and it is outright impossible, my right thumb feels crippled. My hands aren't exactly big either. How did this get past testing?

I want to play Mario but my thumb is too damn sore :(

    Pissy pants.

Maybe they designed it with little kids, instead of big kids in mind ;)

GBA SP fucked up my thumbs too. Although the worst ever was playing Metroid Prime Hunters DS with the stylus.

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a ninja.

Employ a child to press the buttons while you shout out instructions.

if you have nothing intresting to say then you might as well just throw your bags on the truck and drive away

I could never use my SP but I loved my Micro. I only stopped using it when I wore out the shoulder buttons

    I loved the Micro.

I have great memories of going on holiday to Norway with my ladyfriend, and getting through the whole of Metroid Zero Mission.

Fusion was excellent, too. I didn't even have to go on holiday to complete that one.

I still wish that I'd bought one of those sexy Famicom versions for £30 when I had the chance.

mowgli, I love you and all, but please never use the word 'game' as a verb without 'play' before it again.

The original GBA was easily the best shape... just a shame the screen was almost un-viewable.

It was good enough for leg-numbingly long Advance Wars' sessions on the toilet.

Oh - and don't even get me started on the wonder that was the Neo Geo Pocket.

I remember when I saw the GBA randomly on import in CEX when it first came out there. Virtually the only games for it at launch were Super Mario Bros 2 and Tony Hawks.

I literally had no idea what it was (was devoutly PC gamer only then and didn't follow consoles at all) and thought it was some dodgy knock-off.

Even though I love my SP, the Micro had without a doubt the best d-pad on any console ever.

I do have large hands though and extended sessions on it did get tiring.

I'm just gutted I can't find any offical replacement front plates for it. Mine got scratched and the 3rd party plates I got don't sit right on it.

Micro is good for games that don't require real time actions to be honest. Though I do think I complete the entirety of DooM 2 on mine.

It's no coincidence that nearly all the GBA games I own are turn based RPGs and turn based strategy titles. You're asking for trouble playing action games, the severe deformities of the hand type of trouble.

Though, I always wanted to give Gradius Galaxies a whirl. I bet it would bloody hurt playing it though, the GBA SP is bad enough, I can't imagine how much worse it is on the Micro.

Original GBA with afterburner then. Like what I got \o/ :)

The d-pad still sucks donkey balls, what with it being the same d-pad used for the secondary input on the gamecube pad.

BTW I swear the original phat DS has the best d-pad ever for doing dragon punches, and hence the best d-pad ever. Just a shame they never released a version of street fighter on it, so the closest I can get is SFA3^ on the GBA.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I almost wish the Saturn pad had never happened. Totally took it for granted at the time, I don't know what favours I'd perform or parts of the body I'd cut off to get a current generation controller to have a D-Pad even half as good.

Don't get me wrong, for the way todays games play, I wouldnt want to sacrifice any part of the current 360 controller to get an improved D-Pad, but an improved D-Pad ontop of what the current pad has to offer. Yes Please.

By all accounts the people who designed new and improved 360 controller have simply not understood whats wrong with the current one, and it's not much of an improvment.

Back on topic (not that I was ever on topic.....). I only used the GBA Micro once and I probably didn't play on it long enough for it to become uncomfortable, as I don't recall having any issue with it.

This. All you need is Fire Emblem, Shining Force and Advance Wars. If you want to play the Metroid games, stick 'em in a GBA SP or even better a DS Lite.

The GBA Micro was/is a sexy little beast.
Yes, your hands will hurt after a long session. But they hurt after playing with any handheld, even the divine NeoGeo Pocket (Color).

I'd say only two things could be improved: Screen size and the shoulder buttons.

The GBA was so small, whenever I took it on holiday I always thought I'd get arrested for trying to smuggle fun out of the country. The removable face plates go for a fair price on ebay if anybody has some sitting around.
