Just what crime is been committed in your area? A new site just launched at midnight tonight let's you know just that.

    www.police.uk

    About 20 around me.

It's a new site so only has data for the last month. But will have month by month stats as time goes on. It also tells you who your local bobby is and CPO's etc.

    Would you want to know?

I used to be a gamer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

Does it cover crimes against apostrophes?

    1 by my postcode, apparently.

Almost hilariously, it was reported by me.

Didn't work for me. Either that means it's overloaded with crime, or it's crime-free so the police don't even bother.

    Interesting site, thanks.

Got a spate of burglaries going round near me, apparently. Iíve got 422 crimes in my area if I put in my postcode. Being fair only about 55 are near me on the map.

Be interesting to see how it stacks up from area to area, I'm in West London.

With this information available it surely can't be too hard to correlate each EG user's postcount versus the number of rapes in their area last month.

I love how drug crime is filed under "other", bah! Would've been interesting to see where the most drug arrests are made so I could avoid those areas :)

55 near me - 38 anti-social behaviour, 14 "other" and 1 each of burglary, vehicle and violent crime. No robbery's.

By the way, since when have we been able to have ".uk" addresses? I've never seen that before 0_0

Only 206 crimes where I live; most of them are related to attacks on Andy Carroll's old home.

    I'd really rather not know.

Though hopefully this may go some way towards showing that we actually are out there reporting crime / arresting people and not just hiding in bushes with speed cameras and doughnuts.

.uk is operated by Nominet. They give certain subdomains to certain public bodies (gov.uk, nhs.uk, ac.uk and police.uk are the only ones I can think of). They also arrange things so registrars can sell on co.uk, org.uk. net.uk and me.uk addresses. The government doesn't own .uk - the Internet does (although Nominet is a not for profit company registered in the UK, subject to the normal rules)

According to the map there was:

    Anti-social behaviour 1
    Vehicle crime 1
    Violent crime 1
    Other crime 1

On my street, which is approximately 30m long.
