Registered 7 years agoSo its out in a few days, I wonder if EG will review it soon? -
It's not an FPS so they probably won't.

Registered 3 years agoI just got an email, informing me that my standard edition has been shipped! I was going to wait for some reviews, but the Cronenberg-meets-Metroidvania premise was enough to get me to prise open my wallet.
Anyone know roughly how long the game is? Wondering whether or not I can clock this before The Witcher 2 lands next week. -

I think it got a similar score in GamesMaster and a 6 in Edge -

Registered 7 years agoI'm pretty much sold on both the GM and CVG reviews. EDGE has that expected -2 to the score as well
Witcher 2 is tantalisingly close, but i reckon i can slip this in. -

Registered 3 years agoI've got this pre-ordered but I don't actually think I'm too excited about it; the reviews I've read make it sound a bit bland to be frank.
I'll keep the order I think, if only because it will complete the triumvirate of late-cycle JRPGs on the Wii (that will almost inevitably become rare as hell by mid next-gen, see Skies of Arcadia Legends, Symphonia, Baten Kaitos etc), but it's definitely not sitting on any must-play list for me right now.NNID: vyseofhr

Registered 2 years agoThat's why I'm never getting rid of SoA, Symphonia and Baten Kaitos. They're too good to risk losing forever.
I'm looking forward to it but I do have quite a few games to get through first.PSN ID: finn1

Registered 8 years agoBoth versions of Pandora's Tower completely disappeared from HMV's site a few days after that exclusive LE went up. My copy is still there in my order history, though, so I'm hoping there won't be a problem. -

Registered 2 years agoI ordered Pandora's Tower from them on 5th March (way before their preorder bonus) and I fired off a quick email checking if my order was still fine, which they said it was. I'm sure yours will be fine too.

Registered 2 years agoThe email sounded confident, anyway! I know Game often used to take the limited editions off their website when they were sold out (eg. Uncharted 3 Explorer's Edition) so hopefully it's just HMV following their weird practices.

Registered 3 years agoMy copy flopped through the letterbox this morning. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but - having played up to the fourth dungeon - I'm enjoying it a lot.
It certainly has a unique sense of atmosphere, one that veers between cutesiness and creepiness; one minute you're chatting to your virtual waifu about tea-leaves, the next you're looking on in horror as she chokes down goopy monster giblets. Environments look great, plenty of gothic, cyclopean architecture, and epic - well for the Wii, anyway - vistas to soak up.
Graphically it lacks some of the density found in Last Story and Xeno, but it's much cleaner, resulting in a game that's much easier on the eyes if you're playing on a HDTV, imo.
Combat seems pretty slick, if a little basic. It does pick up, however, once you snag a few new weapons and start working the chain into your repertoire of combos - you can lash beasties together, whip them through the air, and even yank bits of them off. Thankfully, the motion controls are uninstrusive but intuitive, only requiring the odd waggle and a bit of pointer action to aim/use your whip.
So, yeah, for a game I bought primarily to ease the wait until the 360 version of Witcher 2 is released, I've been pleasantly surprised.

Registered 2 years agoSounds pretty good! I like it when games give you that sense of unease and it's nice to hear that the combat works well enough. My copy was sent today, apparently, so hopefully might turn up by the end of the week.PSN ID: finn1

Registered 7 years agoHaving ordered the witcher 2 as well, im still unsure about this, why do i hear this is an rpg when its clearly a beat-em-up with puzzle elements? Ive heard every level has some timer attached, does it allow you plenty of time to complete the level? -

Registered 3 years agoGot the LE last night.
Haven't played the game yet, but by gah that's an attractive steelbook. I thought that the Last Story steelbook was beautiful, but this beats it hands down.
The artbook's a bit gash though IMO.NNID: vyseofhr

Registered 8 years agoThe steelbook was what convinced me I needed the LE. Did you get the HMV exclusive? That should include an art book(let) with art from Xenoblade and The Last Story as well.
In related news, gotta love Home Delivery Network:

Registered 3 years agoNo, I wasn't aware of it when I placed my pre-order.
I actually think it's a shame that Xenoblade didn't get a better LE; The Last Story one is excellent and the steelbook makes this one desirable too. The Xenoblade one was just leftover classic controllers from the Mario 25th anniversary. A steelbook that completed the 'trilogy' would have been very nice indeed.NNID: vyseofhr

Registered 2 years agoPossibly an improvement over mine's delivery status, which just tells me that no events have been recorded for the package yet!
I agree that there could have been a much better LE for Xenoblade. There is a nice artbook/infobook for it though which I own.PSN ID: finn1

Registered 7 years agoMine's still stuck in the Romford depot; unlikely that I'll be getting it today then. Guess that's a good thing though, as that gives me time to finish The Last Story this weekend.
Am still mulling over whether to pick up a copy of Xenoblade simply to complete the trilogy, even though I know I won't have time to play it anytime soon with an incoming baby next month. I think only France got a pre-order steelbook for Xenoblade. -

Registered 2 years agoEr, just so you know, the HMV box is fairly flimsy card that is sent flatpacked with the game. My one will probably just get recycled. The small art book is a nice little extra, though.PSN ID: finn1

Took the plunge and ordered it, the review was a good read as well! It still dont get why other reviewers are saying its an rpg though...at least eurogamer said it like it is.
