    If the Scot's vote for independence this year next years election is going to be all kinds of fun.

    Anyone think there's the possibility that the Conservatives could lose the election as a backlash from the public for breaking up the union?

    That would be a good outcome...although unrealistic as a lot of the labour seats are in Scotland at the moment. Maybe with Ucunts stealing some seats it might be possible though.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

    I doubt most people in England care much either way in all fairness.

    Yeah nobody down here is really going to lose much sleep either way IMO.

    Aside from having a good laugh when it all goes to pot obviously.

    Milliband doesn't stand much chance with Scotland's vote so it would be the biggest shock in political history if he could win without them.

    I care! It's key that we keep them to make sure that we stay in the EU!

    The UK's entire political spectrum will shift to the right without Scotland, so I'd rather they stayed in the union.

    Good to see the days of our politicians kowtowing to the Murdoch press are behind us after the phone hacking scandal:

    Clegg's pulling such a weird expression he makes Milliband look normal.

    I guess the Greens are going to take over in Liverpool now as well.

    Heh. Amazing that they agreed not to distribute it in Liverpool. The sustained hostility is wonderful.

    When it suits them. Suarez giving an interview to them was forgotten pretty sharpish when he agreed to stay.

    In that photo Cameron looks like he's found page 3, Milliband looks like he knows what it is, just not what to do with it, and Clegg looks like he's never seen a paper before.

    Safety issue. There would be mass bonfires in the streets around here. It's still rare to find a shop that sells the sun round these parts.

    Cameron reminds me of one of those Hangers from Doctor Who, and Milliband looks like Ardman Animation trying their hands at horror.

    Sorry, but I'll have to stop you there. You can claim they'd be bonfires all you like, but we all know the people of Liverpool don't buy things.

    Er, it's a free paper. One was pushed through my door this morning (looking rather more dog-eared than the ones being held up by the politicians, I must say).

    Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    Full jails told to take in more prisoners

    I don't get this. The prison population has been growing for decades, and yet crime numbers have been been supposedly falling for some years now

    Crime falls 15% in England and Wales

    How can that be? One might reasonably assume that the crime figures we're given are a load of bollocks. Especially when there is some suggestion that many offences are no longer regarded as 'crime' by the Police.

    @Bremenacht

    Just a wild stab in the dark but maybe sentences are getting longer?

    You realise that the '15% fall' survey doesn't come from the police figures, right?

    @Bremenacht:
    Falling crime numbers shouldn't have anything to with it though?

    It's a problem if more criminals are going in than are being released...

    Believe it or not, I usually read the articles I link before I link them.

    It may be that sentences have been growing longer over the past 20 years or so, but as far as I'm aware this has only occurred for a small number of crimes. There are far more instances of crimes receiving non-custodial sentences, whereas they might once have involved jail time. So, there should be less people in jail, or a more transient criminal population. Long-term sentence crimes such as murder have supposedly dropped too.

    I was just confused because you were talking about the police figures, but quoting the other survey.

    @Bremenacht Simple answer: Crime is going down, but of those committed more people are being caught. Both due to better police practices and procedures, better security, a more 'aware' public etc.
