Heh, I didn't even think of that. I just thought where the fuck is this clown thinking he can get 10 billion from.
    Uh, it's 10 trillion, not 10 billion...

And it's genius! WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T SOMEONE THINK OF THIS BEFORE????
To be honest, why limit it to everyone over 50? Give everyone a million pounds, then nobody will need to work and everybody can buy whatever they want.

Yup, can't find the flaw in that.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Me neither, hell why don't we just print as much money as we want? That'll make everything better.

    Uh, I'm confused.

10 million people, 1 million pounds each, equals 10 trillion pounds.

At least, that's my understanding. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...

There's only three people in the world who use the UK Billion, and two of those are only using it in a blasť attempt to show off.

I used to think the UK billion system made more sense - a thousand thousands is a million, and a million millions is a billion, thus as numbers got bigger we reduced the scale. Sadly, according to wikipedia at least, a trillion in old numbers is not a billion billion, but a mere million billion, and a quadrillion just a million of those. In other words it's just as stupid as the new numbers, except old numbers stop scaling at a million rather than a thousand.

I suspect that's why my maths teacher told me there's no such thing as a trillion, cos they ballsed it up.

Edit: Oops. Who bumped this? Did someone just get terminated?

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    Hello!

Question about political protests. Are sit-ins legal?

I'm wondering because UKuncut stage a lot of sit-ins and didn't know what the law said about their actions.

This kind of follows a discussion I was having with someone who had little sympathy for those who got arrested after their jaunt in Fortnum and Mason.

Edit: Also; who is more responsible? The corporations who actively avoid paying tax or the government for not closing the loopholes?

I think if the space is 'public', such as a university/school etc, then they are at least not trespassing. If its a private holding, such as a shop, then I'm pretty sure its collar-feeling time.

It wouldn't be much of a political protest if it was done on the state's terms, would it?

UK uncut need to find some representatives who actually know what they are talking about. The woman they had on the radio the other night was getting shown up by every caller.

Political protests can be legal though, can't they? Not all protests are illegal.

I'm confused as to why UKuncut aren't just getting arrested all the time for trespassing or something if they are breaking the law.

Sure they can be, but being illegal doesn't automatically make them illegitimate either.

(or make them automatically legitimate either, to be fair)

Aggravated Trespass (scroll down for full information)

Section 68(1) CJPOA formerly provided that a person commits the offence of aggravated trespass if he trespasses on land in the open air and, in relation to any lawful activity which persons are engaging in or are about to engage in on that or adjoining land in the open air does there anything which is intended by him to have the effect:

    a) of intimidating those persons or any of them so as to deter them or any of them from engaging in that activity,
    b) of obstructing that activity, or
    c) of disrupting that activity

Most of the budget deficit was caused by us buying huge shares in the banks, right?

And the share prices of the bits we own are rising much slower then our interest repayments, right?

So why don't we start the job now of selling it all back to the private sector. I'm sure we'd find buyers.

The quicker we do this the better, surely, as we're losing money every day we hold onto those shares.

BNP saying that if they could copyright a policy, they would have their lawyers "all over" the Torries 0_o

    Full quote from the BNP

It's cynical opportunism, isn't it? It's almost like a ceremonial adoption of our policy about two weeks before any major vote. In other words, [Cameron] knows what ordinary British people are thinking. He completely ignores that until two weeks before a major poll and then all of a sudden starts pressing a few buttons to try and make people believe he's actually doing something about immigration. It's a farce, it's a con, and if we had copyright on our manifesto we'd have our lawyers round his office within hours.
