I’m really rather enjoying the twitter hounding of our new universities tsar, always a good time to remember what an odious turd he is

I'm just baffled that they chose him.

"Ah, who's the worst person possible to overlook our universities?"

"Is that simpering shitbird Toby Young busy?"

The other, far more qualified, people who applied coming out of the woodwork is also pretty funny.

Imagine actually making a job specifically for Toby young? It's just absolute desperation.

'We have an image problem... people think we are a shower of cunts...what should we do?'

'Uhm...people love Toby young, don't they?'

Is this because it was announced at 00:01 on the first of January? (Probably embargoed, but still).

The timing is pretty much the only thing that is fair ehough.

The ofs came into being at midnight so that was when they announced the board.

The board is fucking shit though. No students or student body and one person there from a 'normal' uni.

I will raise a glass when Boris bites it. Not a nice thing to say, I know, but he is that much of a cancer on society.

Love how the DFE grossly exaggerated his qualifications, like apparently he regularly taught at Cambridge and Oxford.

His 25+ long tweetstorm defending himself was pretty special. If only he put the same amount of effort into anything else in his life, he might not be such a total stain on humanity

How British politics works: as editor of the Spectator, Boris Johnson commissioned Toby Young as a writer. Now Boris's brother, Jo Johnson, a Cabinet minister, gives Young a public sector job. Boris, now also a Cabinet minister, endorses the appointment

If you like your irony strong; Toby Young’s dad, Labour peer Michel Young, was a pioneering sociologist who coined the term “meritocracy”

I'd have thoght by now the existence of the Thatcher kids and Jacob Reece Mogg would have proven that the kids of odious tories are probably more slippery than their fathers in general, so I don't see why they should stop you. Only the fact we had a state funeral for the iron bitch stopped me dancing on her grave.

Don't forget that he only got into Oxford because his daddy made a few phone calls.

He really is one of the worst people in the country. A living, breathing testimony as to why this country is in the state it's in.

Wasn't meritocracy coined as a satirical phrase for something he thought was a dumb and bad idea?
