    Theory Test tomorrow and mock practical test week after next. It's really starting to click now. Just need to keep going and I should pass by March/April.

    Just need to keep up the practice. Mustn't get sidetracked by Vita! ;-) Mmm...shiny...

    I also drove the 30 miles there and back which was quite a novelty. Just the practical left, shame it's the hardest bit.

    Congrats dude, yeah some of the questions are pretty silly

    'You are passing a horse on the road, do you:
    a) Beep your horn
    b) Rev your engine and yell at it
    c) Slow down and pass with plenty of room

    I remember one being something like

    "Your engine catches fire while you are travelling through a long tunnel, do you"

    A) Remain in your car and tune the radio to receive help messages
    B) Continue to drive your car in the hope it won't explode
    C) Leg it to the emergency tunnel and dial 999

    I think the actual answer to that question is: continue out of the tunnel if it's safe to do so.

    Something about fires in tunnels being a whole lot worse to deal with.

    Yeah, I got stumped on that one that's why I remember it. I actually think it's C because you sound the alarm and escape to the emergency tunnel, it's an emergency. The fact the tunnel is long is put there purposedly to make you think you're unable to drive your burning car outta there.

    Ah, long is the key word then. Tbh if my car was on fire I just stop and leg it. Fire + petrol = bad.

    There's one in the Irish Treory Test along the lines of:

    When is it safe for a child to have their head out the sunroof?

    a) Never
    b) Only when traveling at less than 50km/h
    c) Only when they are above the age of 12
    d) Only when wearing the correct headgear

    This didn't happen during my test but during a driving lesson, my instructor asked me to pull over on a congested Wembley High Street and buy him a bunch of bananas from a fruit stall. With hindsight I should have told him to sod off.

    My instructor also ran this system where he'd get his learners to drive to his next appointment's house at the end of their lesson. Once we got there, the next learner would drive me home before continuing with their lesson. Anyway, on one occasion, we drove to some young chap's house. I knew this guy wasn't the best student by the way my instructor was talking to him. A few minutes into our journey, the chap tried to go the wrong way round a busy roundabout. Scary stuff for.a passenger but quite funny thinking about it 23 years later..

    I was lucky enough to have an uncle who just happened to be a fully qualified driving instructor.

    But I'm certain he used 300% more blue language when teaching relatives rather than normal people...

    At the grand old age of 29 I did my first driving lesson today. I'm doing an intensive course and todays lesson was 6 hours long. Went from you're doing well to you suck. Managed to do left and right turns at junctions but I'm sucking at clutch control and im too heavy handed while shifting gears.

    I think I would of been better with two hour sessions over a longer time after about an hour and a half things go down hill lol

    That's what I'm on kinda, I'm doing 30 hours this week it's tough so far and it's only day 1. The guy is going to let me know on Monday if he thinks I need more lessons.

    Now I'm considering giving up. Didn't make much progress today. Not sure if its the instructor or me but I'm strongly going off the idea of driving

    I found 2 hour lessons tiring when I did them last year, 6 hours would be a killer.
