    From superannuation Twitter:

http://whois.domaintools.com/finalfantasy13-2game.com - this will probably interest someone who is not me.

    For those wondering:

Yes, CSC is SE's normal registrar http://whois.domaintools.com/mindjackgame.com.)

It was registered two days ago.
    - From Gaf.

Not sure if this is a good idea, then again I'm not sure if skipping so quickly to FF15, after the shambles that is FF14, is a good idea either. Though, FF13's world itself was pretty interesting.

Meh never been a fan of Final Fantasy but hey its not a FPS so I don't mind it selling well.

Well if FFX-2 is anything to go by she'll be wearing even less and be even sluttier.

Actually, I'd like to see a new set of characters, but with that infamous "Don't forget lightening" - Nomura and FF13 ladies in bikinis is likely ;)

Edit: Not Nomura in a bikini.

OH GOD NO, kill it now! She'll give that chicken bloke from X Factor a run for his money.

I was pretty disappointed with FFXIII, so highly doubt I'll be touching this. Wish they'd go back to the drawing board and make a totally new game rather than wasting time and resources on this, but I guess after spending so long building a world and some (annoying) characters they want to get as much out of it as possible.

I've no problem with this. XIII had a good universe and lore, it's somewhere I'd be happy to return to.

I doubt a XIII-2 would just be another linear crawl like the main game.

Yeah I agree, hope that SE take this as their second chance. But, with Versus 13 coming along too, I wonder if this is just a name change? FFVersus13 -> FFXIII-2 (reduce the outcry of it going multiplatform :D).

    What refreshing positivity.

I'm not at all interested in FF XIII Versus but I'm all up for this. Certain areas felt unresolved and I really enjoyed FF XIII.

It wasn't the linearity which bothered me tbh, but I think SE probably realise that it was one of the major problems that a lot of people had with it and will probably go for a more traditional open style with this one.

Makes sense if the reports of large amounts of unused Final Fantasy XIII assets was accurate.

I'd rather they'd start with a fresh slate and give us something new though. The cutscene to gameplay balance has seriously gone out of whack and needs to be addressed. Even the battles in Final Fantasy XIII are scenes playing out with little player control.

With a massive development cycle and huge costs, I've pretty much accepted that they'll need to make the title stretch for more than one game.

I nearly took the plunge. But the prospect of a twenty hour tutorial was too much to bear.

I like the training wheels to come off within an hour these days.

So how are you discussing problems with a game you've not played :p

Yes, that's right. It's totally impossible to see what Final fantasy gameplay is like...

You couldn't possibly see footage of these things. Maybe... Maybe one day... In the future. I want my personal jetpack first though.

Gives you an extra degree of control I would have thought, you're only a button press away from changing the class of everyone in your party.

What makes you think SQUENIX would invest more effort to a spin off sequel than the main quest? It will be a straight to video style rehash like FFX-2 was.

There is certainly a lot of room to improve FFXIII but I think SQUENIX will be going for the milk the franchise approach as opposed to fixing any of the mistakes. Expecting more is just wishful thinking.

    +1

The battle system in FXIII was superb. If only the rest of the game was up too scratch.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

If they add an actual, explorable world and an interesting story it could be great. Unfortunately I no longer trust Squenix to do these things.

I think this is more likely to be a 3DS or PSP2 game than a PS360 game.

I also agree whole heartedly. I am hoping Nier will do something to restore some of that faith.

Didn't they close Cavia down after they finished Nier?

Doesn't do much to restore my faith.

They did the basterds. But, there will be some new Nier news sometime this year.

They've done it with all their recent spin-offs, haven't they? X-2 was 8 years ago, Dirge of Cerberus was 5, since then we've had Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS), Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS), Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (PSP), Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (PSP), Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (PSP, mobile). It just seems like they're moving their spinoffs to handheld consoles, plus they'll want to take advantage of the new audience who'll want an RPG to play.
