I was grenading him in the end, it seemed to be pretty much the only thing that worked. With guns, tank shells and plain old hitting him in the face, he evaded by - simply lying down on the ground.

it didnt take all 16 tumrs as there were some other enemies to get rid of, but it probably took 5 people 10 turns!

So aim assuming he'll duck, ie; at the feet.

Once you get halfway through, regular troops become elites, and they'll be ducking regularly. It's something you'll need to account for, as they'll soak up damage when prone.

Hint: They can't duck what they can't see...... /o_o\ .....blinkered 90º FOV.

Well, I tried aiming at the feet, bit that didnt seem to work, maybe I just wasnt aiming right.

Re: the FOV, yes, one mistake I made was that he was backed into a corner so he could see everything, I couldn't get behind him. I guess its part of the 'learning curve'!

10 hours in, and really getting into it. Seems that the developers are obsessed with boobs :) Or maybe that's just me.

Like the flexibility of changing classes, although almost zero use of the tank - better to be able to move 2 infantry units.

Judging by the artbook, the breast fetish is minimal in-game ! O_O

You'll unlock a medium tank chassis that only uses 1CP as you go, and it's bloody useful too. Don't neglect the tanks !

/is enjoying 1CP for any tank configuration in VC3

Remember that the enemy will always turn to face a unit that moves close enough to them, even if they're not a class that can perform interception fire. For irritating sods who like to duck, walk up and tap them on the shoulder to make them turn around, then wallop them in the back whilst they're not looking. Rear attacks are undodgeable, and side attacks have a vastly reduced dodge rate.

Light tank B only uses 1CP, but mostly I use the Utility APC, 1CP, Icebreak, and you can load it with crusher armour and a construction arm due to its hueg weight capacity, meaning it can be used to circumvent any environmental obstacle, and you can still stick a flamethrower on it. Also it has good AP and can truck Morris' slow ass around, because nothing says "fuck you enemy tank" like a mauler to the junk.

Okay, that's November done and dusted. The last couple of boss story battles have been suprisingly easy; October's was over in two turns and November's was a formality after I took out Audrey's tank on turn 2, though probably wouldn't have been much more difficult had I not bothered.

But I'm not complaining, as I really want to finish up. Cue Bastard Hard Boss Battle (TM) at some point in December no doubt...

Aye, it is bastard hard. I can pm you some advise if you want as there is something useful you can do to prepare, but only if you like.

Wow - that March mission is a bitch! Cruising along and all of a sudden - boom! Invincible enemies who can kill your guys in a single shot...

Sussed it by the 3rd attempt, but it was a heck of a wake up call.

    I hear April's even worse :(

The March and April story missions are two of the hardest in the game. There shouldn't be too much else to worry about apart from those.

Use a scout to cap the base on the right hand side of the map, then bring out Noel* as a Lancer Elite with Max vs. Armour to clean up at the back, you can have that boss and it's heavy tank mate down on the first turn.

    * Postgame use Jugin, Hard Worker, Ammo Refill, and Max vs. Armour make him the game's best Lancer by a country mile.

I made Noel a Mortarer because I've not been able to get the right credits to randomly drop. Grr.

Anyway, I've hit a brick wall a little sooner than expected. It's the "escort APC" mission for December, where you have to open the gate in another area. Between the base and camp the APC needs to reach there's a powered-up V2, and another one beyond the camp, with the supply vehicle on the other side of the map. How I'm supposed to get a troop there is a mystery... all I have left to try is to issue an order to increase defence and maybe use an Anthem Corp.

Think I used a Fencer as cover for an AT sniper, strolling up to the destination point and firing at the SV's rear which is visible across the way - Fencer then kills the V2 with the next CP.

    Think creatively.

Or as someone taught me: "If it's difficult, you're doing it wrong."

How does one use a fencer as cover? The V2 isn't going to care about the fencer when there's a sniper wandering past. Don't have an AT sniper anyway (yay for random drops).

But I did manage to use the APC as cover, enabling me to get an elite scout over to the camp. Trouble is I'd spent too many points by that stage and it was taken back next turn.

Sometimes there's a V2 on the way to where the button is located in the other area, which makes it twice as fucking annoying.

Fencer/Mauler can be planked between the enemy and the other unit, and any interception fire will hit the shield once you suss positioning. In that instance, I always moved the Fencer first, and kept the AT directly behind them.
Valuable in getting poorly armoured units through tricky areas without having to deal with the enemies.

Okey dokey, I'll give it a try.

It's a bit odd that I'm suddenly being asked to take V2s head-on when until now the supply vehicle has always been accessible. There's always been a way to get to it. So the game has done nothing to prepare me to deal with this situation, hence the anguish :D

^^ pretty much like the first time you face the V2s in March. Nothing earlier in the game prepared you for them

But that's the challenge ! You know destroying the SV is the key, so how do you get it......?

It's forcing you to think. :)

Some of the 'later' and DLC missions have nothing but V2s populating them ! O_o

I did it in the end by clearing every area before pressing the button and opening the gate. The toughest part was the first area where I stuck a fencer in front of the V2 then run a lancer past it and the APC to the supply vehicle. Somehow Vario survived. Swoon, baby.

    \o/

I'd love a 'squad photo' option, like PES's first eleven screen combined with this, just so we could pimp our favourites.

Running out if steam here. 14 hours in and just about to attempt the April mission.

Don't think I've got the enthusiasm to see it through to the end...

Ah, c'mon, you've only got about 75 hours left (if you're as slow as me).

    It is done \o/

I was about to throw the PSP out the window through frustration when, out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, Baldren stopped attacking and turning around the moment a character took aim, enabling me to snipe him from behind with Aliasse and destroy his shield. Don't understand what happened there at all.

Might do some post-game stuff. Then again, I think I need a break :D

Grrraaargh, fuck this game. Just spent a couple of hours on a mission - was a 'kill everyone' type of one, the one vs class E that's DLC. I actually did the mission itself within 6 turns...except for one guy who's just fucking hidden in the grass somewhere, lost the mission because I spent the remaining 14 turns attempting to find him.

    :)

Got the Area Recon(?) order ? There's a 3CP for one area, and a further one costing 6CP that shows all enemies. You loon.

Bet you'll check every grassy knoll here on in though......
  • Deleted user 23 March 2011 20:47:31
Ahh, yeah, I have that, but didn't know what it did - from the description it sounded like it was an area of effect sight boost.

    Well, shit. Lesson learned!

At least the enemies will be in exactly the same position next time, something that they changed for VC3 and is an absolute PITA at times.

Random positioning is nice for variation, but not when a Scout gets switched with a Heavy Tank. :(

How can you waste 14 turns looking for one guy?
Just do it metodically there's only maybe a dozen of places where enemy might be lurking and you shoud have already checked some of them during previous turns.

How difficult is this game? In not all that goof at jrpgs so should I play it on easy? It isn't possible to change the difficult half way through is it?
