For me there's only a few.

    Super Mario Bros.
    Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World (there's a theme here)

    Geometry Wars 2
    Limbo
    Portal

    Any others?

    Deus Ex

Also, Deus Ex. And Deus Ex.

Mario games are a good shout, though.

Recently, I might go for Arkham Asylum.

As in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood? What about the tearing and ropey 'take it in turns' combat? :p

Oh and I don't intend for people to just list their favourite ever games.

I was thinking about the age-old games discussion about does a game ever deserve 10/10. Reviewers always say "No game is perfect." But for me, the games I listed above are verging on flawless. I can't think of anything I'd change.

Chess, although I don't like the fact it's turn based.

Let me be the first to name, what is clearly the greatest game of all time.

    FFVII.

I like it when he's angry.

    Phantasy Star Online v2

This is the only game I'd ever call perfect, because I can't think of a single other game which sets out to do what it was designed to do without leaving any room for improvement.

The underlying mechanics were flawless, timing based combat mixed with addictive looting. The music was incredible, and was still awesome after 200 odd hours. Presentation was perfect, clean visuals, stylized graphics which wouldn't have been improved by just throwing more polygons at it, and the interface was brilliant. And then you can top it all off with a big dollop of ground breaking on-line play.

oh, and the camera didn't suck which is the only reason Mario Galaxy and Mario 64 don't get on my list ;)

Well it's one recent title where in all honesty I can't find much wrong with it at all. I enjoy the combat and the graphical issues it may have are minor. The MP isn't perfect but in all honesty that just feels like a bonus on top of the sublime SP.

I mean it won't be thought of in the same way as certain aforementioned classics but if we're talking perfection in the sense of having little to no issues I'd personally put it up there.

The likes of Shenmue are still my favourite games of all time but they certainly do have flaws and as such I can't put them in the perfect bracket.

Definitely agree with this. Good call.

Portal deserves a shout, I think it's very close.

I dunno about flawless, but in all the iterations since there hasn't really been anything which added that much to Mario 64. Little bits and pieces maybe, but as something which is so... definitive I think that it should be in there.

And yeah, Deus Ex, so good that has ruined all other FPS games for the past 10 years and counting.

It's pretty well flawed. Midi music, rubbish graphics and a terrible translation let it down. As brilliant as it is, it's far from perfection. FFVI was closer, actually.
