Don't know when I'd find the time tbh.
The first one you can belt through actually. The side missions are all effectively the same except on a planet with a different rock texture, and are made distinct by the text window that comes up at the end when you finish the mission.

Still to the main mission stuff and you'll get through with minimum fatigue. It is worth it for the plot developments that happen in the latter half.

ME2 is certainly worth playing though. There is more to it than the first, and is much more fleshed out. All the ropey combat mechanics get tightened up and the ridiculous loot abandoned.

I just finished the storyline part of Citadel. It's a completely silly story, but the writing just really zings. All the characters get quite funny lines - usually at Shepard's expense. It's not often ME3 got me to crack a smile (emergency induction straw aside) so this was really fun. A great addition to the game. Great to see Wrex in action again too.

Yet to try out the after story fun bits, but I'm expecting good things from the looks of it. Bioware have done a good job with this one.

Also, I want that apartment (even if the traffic noise is terrible).

You can change the Xbox 360's auto-shutdown timer in the settings.

I recently started playing the multiplayer again after nearly 10 months, I am almost drowning in all the new stuff. It has grabbed me by the balls somewhat and won't let go.

Yup. While I can absolutely understand a lot of people who buy ME3 won't be interested in trying the multiplayer, I strongly recommend... trying the multiplayer. :p

MP is good fun, but not very balanced. The Vanguard is just too fast and can really steal a lot of kills and my new favourite, the Geth Jug, is just unkillable (you should not be able to melee an Atlas to death). And - frankly - if you don't want to dick around with builds and complex skills any Soldier with Carnage will do you just fine. Rarely see Engis or sniper rifles in play. But that doesn't make it less fun.

When I left there were about 4 or 5 different characters per class, now there are at least 10? All the challenge stuff is new. The map count has gone from about 4 or 5 to loads. My very first game back I saw a Volus, which made me smile.

The Jug is great fun and because its pretty new people are still sort of astonished by the things you can do with it. It's SLOW and you can't use cover, but with points invested you can pump your shields/health to over 5000. It's crazy. And you can recharge shields/health by meleeing stuff (tip; tap to explosive knock back, hold down to electro-force choke - which has about a three metre range). The seige attack is pap however; waste of points. I use the crusader x with mine, as a reasonable shot can kill even a guardian from the front at short range. But because your slow, you sort of have to know the maps - if you aren't in the right place between waves they can easily be taken out before you can tundle over there.

I've unlocked a volus, but yet to try it out. I also unlocked a quarian male infiltrator with stunningly shit powers (including some sort of target scan, which seems to do nothing but look quite cool) last night.

Nothing in the text other than 'network play 2-4 players' or something similar.

    Just downloading now. Sloooooowly.

Tried out the Juggernaut last night for one game, it is barmy. The siege attack seems to be a slower naffer concussion shot. But the melee attack is just bonkers. Very fun but way over powered.

    Some DLC impressions:
Leviathan: Ok, but in retrospect I'd only pay 400MSP for it. The backstory bit isn't particularly surprising, but works ok-ish.
Citatel: Not finished, but seems pretty nice. Very fan-servicey (so much so that I think it works a lot better if it's played along-side the main-game where all its character moments are spread out much more naturally). The single-player version of the multi-player (Combat Arena) by the single addition of a scoring mechanism and kill-steaks in particular was surprisingly fun.

Same impressions as me really! If you see this before you finish it: have a look around in the second part of Citadel, there's some pretty funny stuff around.

Thought I'd have a quick play on the new MP DLC (yes, I'm a bit late), and I'd been gifted with a lovely Krogan Warlord.

    Sweet Jesus.

He lumbers around with a gravity hammer knocking seven shades of shit out of everything. Doesn't quite fit my preferred playstyles, but quite a lot fun anyway - I can see myself using him now and again. :)

MP does seem a little quieter now than it did a few months ago, though, sadly. :(

Might seem a silly question, but having downloaded ME3 with the PS+ is it playable without playing the first 2?

Not really sure why I didn't ever play them, but will give 3 a bash if it's not entirely stupid to do so without playing the preceeding entries.

Without giving you any spoilers, ME3 does throw you into the deep end a bit at the start of the story, and slightly depends on some recognition of characters/species/events.

I'd recommend grabbing a cheap ME2 if you can, as it sets up a lot of new characters that are in ME3 as well as doing a better job (IMO) of reintroducing ME1 characters.

9.85, and you could have it in your hands on Tuesday, too. :p

Play at least ME2. One of the biggest draws of the series is getting to know and coming to care about squadmates, and getting that familiar feeling when they turn up again in the next game. Garrus is my bro.

Yeah, you can just about get by with jumping in at 2. The first sets up two sets of major antagonists, plus sows the seeds of Cerberus in side missions. However, the first game ISN'T actually that deep storywise. ME2 ran in at about 40 hours for me, the first at 25. A lot of those 25 hours were spent arsing about in irrelevant side missions that had minimal depth. I DO moan about it, but it does have a delicious reveal halfway through, the second half of the game turning out to be fantastic.

The starting comic in ME2 can catch you up AND get you started off just nicely.

Failing that, you could always shunt some cash out for the PSN ME1 and kick off there?

I thought citadel was awful; particularly the writing which was cringeworthy and forced. The 2 main firefights are ridiculously hard even on the lowest settings = numerous attempts = padding out of the dlc. The arena is just mp woth bots, no blackjack or poker in the casino just shitty made up games for casino and arcade which are not worth bothering with. The interraction and dialogue at the party is very limited. Its like they ran out of ideas.

Quite poor and definatley not worth the 1200 points. 400 yes.

lol some people are never satisfied, Citadel really is a labour of love from Bioware, little touch that they didn't need to do but did anyway are overflowing like - Mordins data pad, Andersons Biography, Apartment customization, non linear party stucture, having the whole crew VO, Wrex as a playable character etc.

The whole crew being available is definatley a nice touch. The apartment customization is irrelevent and sparse. Not sure what u mean by nonlinear party structure but the party has extremely limited interraction with the guests. So much more could have been done and this is the weakest part. You do not get to catch up with them. Instead it is like waving at them from inside a bus. Was particularly dissapointed not to have dialogue with Jack for example. If this was a labour of love then each and every character would have full dialogue interrations and THAT would be worth 1200 points.

Its yet another cynical ea cash in disguised as something more, with the minimum of effort. Andersons biography, datapad etc are all easy things to do, like codex items. U don't interract with them.

The writing is jarringly cringe inducing and weapons are noticably underpowered compared to the main game and previous games.

I have played through mass effect 1 countless times, ME2 3 times, and me3 once and as a long term fan I felt let down by the delivery of this minimum effort dlc.

Oh and not bothered by wrex and the fact that he is shoved down your throat as the best bit is lazy. Not all fans of the series had wrex as their favourite but this dlc provides no choice in that matter.
