Clark could have easily passed it back to the keeper, tried to be too clever.

    Rodwell broken again :'(
Reminds me of the discussion we had a while back about teenage footballers playing too much while still developing physically. Torres, Robben, Owen, Cesc etc have company.

@QotSAfan not sure how well breaking vertically would work. Probably need bigger soles in your shoes.

Oh God, not Holman, he's been awful in so many matches where it's dicey, I predict he'll lead to us giving away a goal again.

You are a factory of sadness.

I really do wish that the obstruction of the goal keeper is actually looked at over the summer. Every team does it and it's such an ugly and irritating part of corners these days.

Pretty hard for Dean to give the penalty.

Nice of Mancini to bring on Barry for him to get a bunch of boos :-D

A penalty for sure but from Dean's view you can see why he didn't give it. The linesman should have seen it though.

Delphi has been very good, we'll miss him for those two games.
  • Deleted user 4 March 2013 21:53:23
Villa probably should have had a pen there

Yeah, he should have. Same old same old.

Dean booking Delph for that was a complete joke. It's a real shame as he's been one of our better players for the last few games.

Shame such a shit goal settled that, but City were cruising. Could have scored at will if they wanted to.

I thought Dean was ok today, which is an improvement from his usual crap!

Think Mancini got slightly lucky there in that Rodwell's injury led to the game changing in City's favour with Dzeko's hold up play.

All in all we ended up being quite lucky after our shocker on Saturday.

Considering placing a lot of money on Spurs buying Benteke in the summer.

Would make sense - experience of the league, proven quality, plays with Vertonghen and Dembele, good age, what Spurs need up front.

It was a rather excellent save. Same with the Toure effort. Guzan is such a keeper. Shame he's got stupid defenders in front of him. How he isn't the US keeper I don't know.

I'm really not sure we need to sell him, that's the thing. He may have some kind of relegation clause but assuming we stay up I'm not sure we would want to sell him. Considering all this austerity has been to get wages down and now they are of a reasonable level then we may well not be quite so quick to get rid of our quality.

I didn't say Villa will want to sell, I'm saying I can see Spurs wanting to buy. Wouldn't come cheap (cost you a fair few quid in the first place) mind.

Yes you don't need to sell him but I can see Benteke helping to force through a move, especially if Spurs are a Champions League club.

    Just thinking out loud :)

I don't see how Villa could possibly keep any player who was the target of a moderately successful team with after this season.

I'm a big fan of Lowton, always marauding down the right (though defensively suspect).

Transfer fee was on the low side, but sure his wages are high enough. Too high to shift?

    Weren't the wages also subsidised?

As far as I know they were subsidised in the respect that his Man City wages were balls mental, but he is still one of their highest earners.

Only in that City gave him a pay off which covered the difference between his wage at Spurs and waht he was on at City. He's still on 75k+ I think - high enough anyway

Yeah, I think he's on about 80k with City paying off the rest. With a 5m transfer fee though it's not a lot of money on balance.

I don't really see why we'd need to give up on him to get another striker. Two strikers is not enough for us clearly (Dempsey isn't a striker no matter what fantasy football think).

Besides, I still think he's doing ok. We're doing well with him, not despite him.

    Hypothetical question :

    - Man Utd re-sign Ronaldo next year
    - Man City get Mourinho

    Who wins the league?
