Terry, as much as I despise him, went from Chelsea's youth team to club captain, with an absolutely monstrous will to win. City have no-one comparable to that, Hart is the closest but he's a goalie... I'd rather have my 'guts' players in central defence.
    Kompany is that person IMO.
Not having a great season though.

    FOOTBALL
Police confirm they have launched an investigation after an Arsenal supporter threw a banana at Gareth Bale during Sunday's north London derby at White Hart Lane.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating after a banana was thrown on to the pitch from the away section of supporters during the Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal match at White Hart Lane on Sunday, March 3. There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue to try to identify the suspect."

Arsenal have vowed to ban the culprit for life.

Dunno that Kompany is the competitor that Terry is, better player and athlete though.

Not sure on this one. One one hand, i think its fucking hilarious, but on the other hand, it IS making fun of the real issue of black players having bananas thrown at them in other countries which is wrong.

It's not though is it? It's the fact that Gareth Bale looks like a fucking chimpanzee, clearly.

I think you're crediting whoever did it with far too much intelligence. There was nothing ironic or subversive about it.

The issue btw is that someone threw something at a player. That is why it isn't ok, and that is why it should result in a ban. The fact that it's quite funny is moot, but I really don't think the racial thing is an issue at all, apart from perhaps as an example of how context can massively change the meaning in something.

Walcott had a really good game yesterday. Stood up and was counted after having signed a lucrative new contract. Fair play to the lad.

Well if you were that bothered about it, you'd have put some signs up before the match, did you see any signs saying "Please do not feed the animals"? I dont recall seeing anything.

They threw the banana making fun of his appearence, not his race. Therefore all the fans who call crouchy freak every game should be banned as well.

Edit: Actually, as they threw something it may be a bit different

Obviously throwing anything at a player is unacceptable but if it was thrown towards the pitch without the intention of hitting him then that is a bit different.

Hopefully he'll get the right to a peel his ban.

surely the "potential" of a team with 2-3 world class players in each position should be more than to drop out of the CL every year in the group stages, and scrape the league on goal difference?
I'm sure a decent manager of players, and one with a better eye in the transfer market, would have won the league at least twice by a considerably larger margin than Mancini and given the investment there really is no reason why at least one CL-final hasn't been reached yet.

How he's kept his job this long is beyond me.

it may or may not have been thrown with the intent of hitting him, but anyone throwing anything onto the pitch is an issue frankly.

BTW, incredible achievement for BAE literally kicking a ball out of the stadium yesterday. I'ver never seen a player get close to this before. Don't think I've even seen one go into the top tier before. Astonishing.

Its a bit of an easy swipe to make. He didnt so much have a poor game, more Vertonghen and, to a lesser extent, Dawson had a great one.
