I remember reading a stat that said something along the line of 'Abramovich has spent more on managers than everton have spent on players since the premier league started'.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    He totally called it

Pretty sure that was just on AVB too :

I cant remember the numbers exactly, but i know they paid Porto HUGE compensation to get him, gave him a MASSIVE contract then had to pay him off when they sacked him.

Dread to think how much they spent on that whole saga....

All our debt is turned into equity and absorbed by the shareholder....Roman Abramovich.
"Chelsea FC PLC is debt free"
    http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/2975285/title/chelsea-fc-announces-annual-profit
If Roman leaves  and either his son or some other billionaire don't carry on funding us then maybe we would have to cut spending a bit but we will still be in a very good position because of the "global brand" we have built up over the last 10 years or so. The only thing that would hold us back is the low capacity at Stamford Bridge.

That's disingenuous. Fordstam Ltd (Chelsea's holdco) only has accounts published to June 2011 but they show net liabilities of £617m and loans of £818m (up from £739m year on year).

What you're saying is the equivalent of someone sitting on the top deck of the post-iceberg Titanic saying 'I'm not getting wet'.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

He is right about the brand thing. If Abromovich has done anything, its propel chelsea right to the top table of football where it should be, largely, possible to self sustain yourself.

A hint of retirement from Fergie?

Probably not - as sad as it sounds, i can honestly see someone finding him slumped over his desk one day.

    But Chelsea are awful though.

Also they're completely financially fucked in five years. Like Rangers fucked. Earlier if Roman gets bored and wanders off to play God somewhere else.
tbh, the whole "when Roman gets bored" is played out now. We've been saying for almost a decade now and 9 managers later and even a CL cup finally in his hands, he isn't showing any diminishing interest in that blasted club of his, unfortunately,

He's not as good as Di Matteo though.

Banking itklol is telling me that Usmanovs sale of some non football shares yesterday was to raise money for more Arsenal shares. If he can find someone to sell to him that is.

Why would he need to sell to buy? He's like, 3 Abramovich's rich.

That's a pretty interesting article, but it is hard to take too much from it if the billy big bollocks who has gone to the press doesn't give his name.

So its the English lads that are key to the first team.
guesses being Anton Ferdinand and Clint Hill as 2 of the 3.

You can't expect any current squad player to give his name to the press.

He's rich but its all invested. The talk is that last year when the opportunity to buy came up all his cash was tied up. This year he's making sure he's got no cash flow issues.

He can piss off abroad. And take Stann with him.

Really wish the PL took the Bundesliga approach and have all clubs be fan-owned, with any large shareholder having to be there for a minimum amount of time.

It will be funny when the German Leagie becomes bigger than the PL. Considering Bayern & Dortmund's domination in the CL, along with capturing pep, it may happen sooner rather than later.

    Last year.
Edit: As stated, the league will progress. The fact Dortmund have progressed to be a squad in with a shout of winning the CL (whilst still 15 point behind Bayern in the League) whilst we're now nothing but cannon fodder for the best teams, plus Chelsea' Channel 5 romp and City's early exist, is a possible indication of where things are going.

And that's before the FFP really hits our league (and not them).

Depends where assets are innit. But yeah, I severely doubt they are linked.

FFP will be a good thing for the PL, it still allows for infrastructure investment it will just stop unsustainable spending which inflates wages and transfer fees for everyone. Now the focus will be more on getting the best management and youth development to gain an advantage, as well as calculated transfer spending, rather than desperately overpaying for half-arsed mercenaries. Also with the new TV deal Prem clubs will still be stronger than any other league top-to-bottom when it comes to buying in talent.

ITKlol is that's what he told the team at Mail.RU when he sold his shares. That the money was for Arsenal.

Dortmund resurgence down to Klopp though and about to lose Lewandowski. It won't be long before Klopp moves on either to Real Madrid or DFB, also elite teams are going to continue to cherrypick their best players. Dortmund is not a glamorous part of the world at all, so will always struggle to attract top overseas players and keep their best one. Financially their ticket prices are rock bottom (and fans won't allow a big increase).

City's early exit is due to Mancini's incompetence in Europe, was the same for him at Inter. With a proper manager they would perform well with current squad.

Chelsea/Arsenal, one of these likely to be replaced by a much more competent looking Spurs. Which will likely be a good thing for either of them in forcing an improvement in how they are run.
