You have an entire continent? That is a lot of people to swap for Bale. I think you might have a deal.

I could've misspelled contingent, but continent works too. :)

Question As amazing as Beyonce's half-time performance last night was (and I'm sure everyone would agree it was...), the real question is, could she do it on a cold wet Wednesday night in Stoke? Nick, London

I hadn't realised just how bad West Brom's current run is until I saw the form table this morning:

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html

Lucky they had such a good start.
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 15:39:10
I think they'd have given us a good game if they hadn't have a player sent off. We were struggling with them, especially Long and Lukaku who look a good partnership.

They're not a top six side, but they'll be comfortably mid table.

    Suspected for 3 months.
    Really lolworthy.

Feel sorry for the qpr fans, even sorry for Fernandez, who seems to be a decent owner. It's the Harry factor (and all his talk about not wanting to spend Fernandez's money) that's comical.

UEFA attempt to show some teeth,
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 16:25:18
They've been very clear a ban is the maximum punishment, so in other words they'll fine them.

Which in turn will make it harder for them to be in profit for the next season, so they get fined again.

So it's a nice revenue stream essentially.

And yet we all know the "fine" will be something along the lines of 8,600.

Easy now, its not a racism fine, its only financial fair play. Thats a bit high.

Oh god, Newcastle fans get a sniff of success and have lost it.

Stay cool guys. I prefer you when you're not going down the Liverpool street of delusion. Some modesty is always good too.

Is the sponsorship PSG and Man City get market value or just a big stuffed envelope to cover their losses?
  • Deleted user 4 February 2013 17:30:16
I'm pretty sure sponsorship is not included in FFP. There's quite a detailed blog out there which details what is and isn't, but I believe you have to be able to tie the revenues directly back to football for it to count. That's why the CL is so important.

It is. Everything is included bar walking tours of the stadium and 'non-football' activities. So the sheik could buy the stadium naming rights for 1bn over ten years, call it the 'FUCK YOU, UEFA DOME' and call it a day.

Theres a good article on the key points I read a while ago..

The whole point of them is that clubs can't spend ludicrously beyond their means. As long as clubs can demonstrate that they are moving in the right direction to reduce debt and be more financially stable in future, then they are not going to get punished.

One interesting thing is that a club can qualify on 'sporting merit' so, for example, if a club like, well Bradford, won the FA Cup, they could still get in by exemption even if though they make losses that should disqualify them.

Also, they would probably be exempt as their whole operation probably wont take in or expend much more than 5m a year.

I think it says a lot about UEFA that virtually no one expects this to be implemented properly.

Probably an EU directive. UEFA actually don't give a fuck about it.

How are Real going to manage? May be the government could call in some of the their loans. Might help the economy.

Ronaldo is the highest paid player in the world isn't he?

I'm assuming the top 5 is Ronaldo, Messi, RvP, Drogba (8.6m for an 18 month contract isn't it?) and Ibrahimovic.

Eto'o will be somewhere in that list. Might even be top.
