Registered 10 years agoWhy is there so much focus on Arsenal buying a striker? I really don't get it. They have at least three that seem to be doing fine. The issues are obviously at the back. -

Registered 8 years agoI think "striker" is a bit of a mis sell, we need another creative wide striker who can play as an option to Walcott, Podolski or Gervinho.
Like yesterday pod was tiring but our option on the bench was nobody. -

Registered 8 years agoNo, both are central midfielders who play on the wing because that's where the manager puts them. -

Registered 10 years agoAoC at the moment (but will be more central in the future), but not Ramsey - he's firmly a CM! Surprised he didn't bring on AoC for Podolski, but then again, we were battering them at times so maybe he didn't want to lose that momentum.
Spurs trying to sign Damiao again then? Surely you'll get there eventually! -

Registered 10 years agoI dunno. From where I'm standing you have plenty of options across your attack, with lots of versatile players who can cover a number of positions, so much so you can afford to loan out Arshavin.
Whereas at the back it's total amateur hour. -

Registered 10 years agoWe've left it too late to sign Leandro I'm sure. You don't get players like that on deadline day.
My prediction will be some nonsense trying to scupper Everton's bid for Negredo that involves us offering less money, but a promise of being best friends forever and that they can come to our party, which will fail. Then we'll try and get Hooper from Celtic last minute but leave it too late. -

Registered 8 years agoThe problem with the defence isn't so much the personnel it's the coaching.
Nothing else explains why we are continuously buying international class defenders and making them into a unit who look like a carry on film.
Maybe we are missing a proper DM but Wenger says there aren't any in the market.
We could buy John terry and vidic and our back four would still be shocking I guarantee it. -

It's a cliche but none of them are leaders, so they all just sort of do their own thing. Mertersacker is the closest I'd say, but he is also a bit bonkers.kalel wrote:

Also Chesney is a bit dodgy and doesn't command confidence in your defence. The whole lot of them are now shaken as a unit and there's no leader or real quality.
Someone like Terry is in fact exactly what you need. -

Registered 6 years ago'Reported' 100k a week. If true then it's batshit mental. TF has just tweeted to someone called Joey not to believe what you read in the papers. I presume our ex-captain has said something, don't know as I unfollowed him about a year ago. -

Registered 6 years agoAlso I'd say we've easily shifted more than 100k out the door in wages over the last couple of days - Nelsen, Ferdinand, Faurlin, Campbell. Even Rob Hulse was reportedly on 20-30k due to a promotion clause.
That's obviously fine if we don't buy and more players, which is probably unlikely. -

Registered 8 years ago@kalel terry would be great for five games, then he would go exactly the same way as the rest of them.
The problem is, defence needs to be coached and trained into you, our world famous defence under GG used to do hours of offside drills etc, and we don't do that now. There is clearly no understanding between the back four at all. -

Registered 10 years agoI don't doubt the defensive culture of your club has changed, but Bould must be doing something. He was being lauded as the new god of defensive training a few months ago.
Training is an issue I'm sure, but so is quality. Buying even more attacking players will not change your fortunes imo. -
