    @nickthegun

Fair enough, but I think I've made my point that it was a point that wasn't as cut and dry as "Frankly that's a load of shit". Not having a go or anything, just saying that's why I argued back.

And, possibly, for a lot of footballers, the remaining wages would be as much as a transfer fee.

    Nah, obvious WUM is obvious.

    The numbers

    speak for themselves.

United-biased but the figures are legit whichever way people try to spin it. United never went from nothing to sugar daddied, the comparison simply doesn't hold up. End of the matter really, wasn't that fun? :D

I was thinking about this with Holtby. We're negotiating with his club to buy him even though he's already signed for the summer, but how much could it possibly be for him to buy out what's left of his contract? It must be next to nothing surely?

I don't really understand how the Webster rule works, but I get the feeling it's not quite as simple as that.

Those figures are so massaged and, frankly, idiotic, they are barely worth commenting on.

I get the impression that its not like a bosman when your contracts over, thats that. I think it still has to go to arbitration with a figure calculated and all the mess that entails, so thats probably why.

If it was a simple as 52 x 20k, here you go, I think everyone would be doing it.

To be fair to nick if his argument is "money shouldn't play a part in how successful sports teams are regardless of where it comes from" it's a valid if extremely naive argument.

It is sad that being a better business can be a lot more fruitful than having passionate fans or excellent youth academies but that is the way things are.

It's never going to go back to the days of Celtic winning a European Cup with all local lads and that should be accepted and enjoy the sport for what it is.

Natural progression through the finances of a club being well run should not be frowned upon however and if it weren't for sugar daddies coming in at clubs like City and Chelsea I like to think the entire league would be more competitive and that teams like Spurs and Everton would have been able to maintain more serious sustained challenges. Maybe that is unrealistic of me though.

Who knows. West Ham can be bloody hard to beat as Man U have found out a couple of times this season (at least), but I think Arsenal are due to give someone a kicking, and fear it'll be tonight.

    Is it on Sky?

There has been some "ITK" that we tried to trigger Diame's release clause and they simply told us to fuck off, and that we'd need to sue them for him.

I hate playing BFS's teams. He hates us and always knows how to get at us. We need some kind of response though that's for sure. There's a perfect shit storm brewing. Gutted not to be there.

I've got Arse Ham on TV but it's after the Che Swans game. Can't be arsed with that. Would rather it the other way round tbh. Mickey Mouse Cup etc.
