Tell you what, I had my doubts but that paragraph really sold the fact he is worth 100k a week to me.
I think he is, in the current market. Current ability he's worth about 70k. He's got 14 goals already. 10 in the PL. If he manages to fulfill his promise...fuck knows what he'll be worth. But more than that.

Many worse players are getting more money than him, or very similar, at clubs that can't afford to pay the salary.

Let's have the conversation at the end of his contract as to whether he's been worth 100k a week, once he's had a chance to pay it back. Anything more before that is just guessing and I'd rather give him the chance to prove himself than write him off just because of what he's earning.

Walcott would've easily got that at another club anyway.

    Chelsea offered him 150k apparently.

I just don't see on what planet the deal wasn't worth what it was.

We don't sign him, he goes. We have a 15m player walk, for nothing.

We sign him for about 25k more than we wanted to. That's 4.5m over the length of his contract. Probably 1.5m more signing on fee than we wanted. So that's 6m over 3.5 years. If he really is on 100k and not 90k as some say.

It'd cost way more than 6m to replace him, take time for the new player to bed in, etc. etc. Whichever way I look at it, I can't get why some fans are moaning about it.

As much as I hate Liverpool and as awful as their fans, players and PR are, Chelsea really are the team with no soul. Nothing. How anyone can find anything there to support, I don't know.

They help you last for ages. It goes a bit limp at the end though.

Lineker has left Twitter for personal reasons.
Expect some dirt on him in this weekend's tabloids, then.

Couple of articles on Pochettino that make him sound okay and not necessarily the hack people are saying he is today (although I'd genuinely never heard of him until today, so I can't say I have an opinion. Just giving some balance):

Hope he is a hack and has no idea what to do. At least until Tue.

French press reporting Newcastle have agreed an 8m fee for Yanga Mbiwa. Excellent deal if true, was very impressive vs us in CL this year. Played CB and DM and looked at ease in both positions.

Meh, sounds more like a bid has been made but not yet accepted based on what I've read. Le10sport say it's been accepted but they're a tabloid who constantly link English clubs to Ligue 1 players.

Pardew was at a talk-in tonight and apparently said that the club are looking to make 2 'big' signings this window. He implied that Remy would have been one of them, so basically the club are looking to spend about 14-16m on two players (striker and a defender). Also heavily linked to some French LB at Nancy as competition for Santon.

Long as we get two decent players in, I'll be satisfied. But it should have been done in the summer and the bedsheet protest gang will be out again in force if the required incomings aren't secured. Pardew to his credit has publicly made it clear to Ashley that the club's safety is on the line.

Supposed to be 8m, which is a bargain for a player of his quality.

Would like to see Arsene bite at that price. Only 1 injury and suspension away from Squillaci in the team.

Siem de Jong, Remy and now Yanga-Mbiwa.

We will likely end up with Tomkins, N'Gog and Jay Bothroyd. Oh and Aliadiere. Don't forget him.

Excellent write up on the Guardian about Villa's predicament. It says a lot too that all of the press that has come out recently suggests that there will be no purchases this January. Villa usually keep things close to their chests regarding purchases but I think in this instance it is going to be the case that we aren't going to sign anyone.

Things look pretty desperate and with a chairman who seems to have lost his interest in being involved with the club one has to wonder if there's much likeliness of avoiding relegation.

Apparently we've been in touch with Inter, not for Sneijder, for Coutinho. Thank fuck for that.

I'm sure I read that Inter just benched him in September and he hasn't played for the first team since. Now he has the cheek to demand 240k a week.

That must be close to what Ronaldo and Messi are on? Or am I being naive.

Not sure there is much strange about it tbh.

He was at the top of his game 3 years ago and could probably justify the obscene wages he earns. However, his best days are probably past him, he's been injured quite a lot over the past 2 years, yet still thinks he can demand wages that aren't reflective of his worth on a football pitch.

I can see why nobody has taken him, it would appear that money is his main priority and not football. Greedy little cunt.
