No wonder rangers had financial troubles, look at the scale on this chart!

My understanding is that if they still hold his registration even if they withold payment for breach of contract or if he retires.
If Newcastle held onto his registration wouldn't they have to pay him for his contract?
Same as when kettleneck decided to go golfing. he had to come back because city owned him, even if they cancelled his contract.---------------------------------------------------------

Not always true, his dive in the match against Villa earlier this season was hilarious. He was about two foot from Guzan when he did a swan dive.

Still think recently he's been making every effort to sort it out though, which is something. -

That was what the Bosman case was about but there are key differences here: he's not an EU national, and he's not at the end of his contract, he's attempting to wriggle out of it.
If Newcastle held onto his registration wouldn't they have to pay him for his contract?
They'd be impeding impeding his right to work or something otherwise wouldn't they?
Probably gets very complicated this.
There are still massive grey areas surrounding Bosman (such as why are football contracts different than any other work contract? Why can't footballers just give a standard notice period and then look for work elsewhere? How can it be illegal to tell someone you'd like to hire them?). No football club or football association wants to look at them too closely though, in case the whole house of cards falls down.
If he really wants to go back to Argentina for personal reasons, it would seem simplest to give him a 6 month sabbatical and extend the terms of his contract for 6 months to cover it. Tell him he's got half a year to see if he can sort his personal business out, and if he's still desperate to live in Argentina after that he can find a team with some money who want him. -
Im 'dim ond yn dda yn rhedeg.
