Rooney nailed on to start then.

Aside from his debut isn't he usually shit coming back from injuries? Needs games under his belt I reckon. Though we've won every game him and RVP have started together..

Are you saying your intent was to weave that conversation towards a discussion about Big Ben in order to land the "punchline" that you were in fact from London, having already set up the "joke" by having a whine about the stereotype that all Man U fans are from London?

Fabricio Coloccini has not handed in a formal transfer request but he has asked to leave #NUFC in January.

    Would

I love how Colo hasn't handed in a transfer request but has asked to be allowed to leave. Eh?

Probably a contractual/disciplinary/union difference type of thing

Never really understood what "putting in a transfer request" actually involves. They make it sound so official, like something has to happen because of it.

Aye that's why I figured it must be written down somewhere as a 'real thing'

Pretty sure it's just something in writing signalling your desire to leave, much like a letter of resignation.

Edit: Yeah, probably defined in the contract somewhere

    Traditionally wasn't it always:

Sold - gets percentage of sale fee.

Transfer request submitted - sold without any percentage of the sale.

Rodgers believes his methods have improved the likes of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Jose Enrique, who were signed for around £40million last summer, but have all underperformed in their time on Merseyside.

So much so that they were all thought to be on their way out of the door at Anfield for knockdown prices, but Rodgers believes he has boosted their value.

He's quoted as saying in The Guardian: "It is all about the materials. I am not a magician. I will be able to improve players - that is my work and I have confidence in that.

"If I look at the first six months, I believe there has been improvement in a lot of the players. I will be able to rinse everything that I possibly can out of them, but the bottom line is about talent. If you don't initially have that then it can be difficult.

"That is also why I was brought in here, because we will get talents and we will try to maximise what we can out of players.

"You look at Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Josť Enrique since the start of the season and we have added value back to them. Absolutely. That is the job of the manager and the coach, as well as winning games.

"My job is to improve players in every aspect of their game and that is something we will look to do because we don't have the resources of the top clubs who are out there paying big money.

"We won't have that. So we have to find the difference through coaching."
I wonder if he ever reads what he says and cringes.

Ah ok, didn't know that. Interesting. Makes sense.

Perhaps you forfeit your "loyalty bonus" as well.

I must have missed this when it happened but apparently Pardew and Colo had a disagreement a few weeks back.

Wouldnt be surprised if this has got something to do with it....

Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily % of transer fee, but a settlement on your existing contract. Would have to see what TSF said!

To be fair he has not had funds available to him.

I think he does talk some guff but I also think he's a good manager and doing a good job.

Dont forget, hes 100% responsible for the way the Swans play.

Nothing to do with Roberto Martinez....nothing at all.

Martinez and Rodgers both take credit.

Some seem to want to give due respect to Martinez and Laudrup but conveniently miss out Rodgers...

What what? He was given enough money (and leeway) to spunk 10 million on Borini based on very little except working with him at Chelsea. Spent £15 million on Allen and he's just paid £12 million for a striker...huge amounts compared to the top 4? Maybe not but...well, Liverpool aren't in the top four :D

To say he hasn't had funds is a bit disingenuous though.

He probably is a decent manager (I think we'd find out how good next season) but he could do with keeping his trap shut for a few months!

    ALLEN WAS FIFTEEN MILLION!!! WTF!

I always assumed he was a freebie that Rodgers thought was worth a punt. Christ.

Anyway. I still like Rodgers as a manager, despite having no respect for him.
