My 'Happy Birthday' message to Frimpong on Facebook appears to have been removed from his wall.

"Happy Birthday. I was going to send you a card but they were all out of red ones. Will yellow do?"

:-) Villa are set to be the but of most jokes for the rest of the season until we either go down or somehow stave off relegation, so I'm going to have to put up with that.

I'd pick Spurs over Arsenal. Wengr is senile and going nowhere, AVB is young and has connections across the Iberian peninsula. Not difficult.

End of Ade? From what I've seen this year he's been pretty awful.

Llorente, completely frozen out after trying to force a move.

Said it before. The only thing wrong with Arsenal is their egalitarian wage structure. Well that and Wenger's disdain for defending.

Arsenal's wage structure has never made sense. In the name of supposedly fostering team spirit (I don't see it to be honest, Arsenal have been a fragile team since Vieira and Gilberto left), it has meant that the top players cannot be paid what they are worth compared to their counterparts in the other top 4 teams. It also means that squad players are harder to move on.

With a normal wage structure Arsenal would have been able keep their best players.

It's difficult to challenge if you keep losing your your best players every year and even more difficult when you lose them to a direct competitor.

Do Arsenal pay youngsters much money, considering they have quite a lot of them from round the world on the books, that might not allow them a lot of high earners.

Not on loan anymore, but City in way do still pay a good amount of his wages, but it had to be a lump sum up front as it's illegal to pay the wages of another team's player.

Quite a bit, but we're slowly getting rid of young  players we gave large salaries to in order to try and retain them. On the whole its pretty equal with a few top earners. What has cost us is a) players like Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner failing to deliver, b) weak commercial deals that were necessary at the time of the move and c) other buys that were expensive that haven't worked out.

I don't know about youngsters specifically, but for most of the last 10 years they were third in annual wage bill ahead of my team Liverpool in 4th, until the 08/09 season when Liverpool went mad and put £17m on the annual wage bill to pip Arsenal to third highest by £3 million.

That's complete rubbish. Denilson was £3.1m, Diaby was about £2m and Bendtner was a youth product. How often does a £3m or £2m player come good? You would have a stronger argument citing Wiltord and Arshavin.

Wenger has secured the future of your club by investing at youth and promising player level. You buy lots of promising players relatively cheaply and some will come good but even if they don't it's not a financial disaster. It's smart and as I've said before I'm not sure why more clubs don't do it.

However, just by tweaking the wage structure Arsenal would have been able to retain their best players and competed for the last 10 years instead of losing their best players and having to replace them and rebuild.

I'm talking wages. Denilson is on 40-50k,Bendtner 52k nd Diaby 60k. Too high to offload the first 2 and we've been subsidising their wages whilst on loan for the last 2 seasons. That's poor use of resources. I get why he tried it (to avoid losing them on frees like Flamini and nearly Hleb). Add in others like Chamakh (60k), Squillaci(40k) and Park (fuck knows but anything is a waste) and there's another huge chunk that meant we couldn't afford to pay Nasri and Rvp what thy wanted. They may well have left anyway, but regardless, that's a lot of cash that can't be used better.

Edit : that's not to say I don't agree he's done well. He has, and it was out of necessity, but we're out of that now. It's just some things didn't go as he planned/hoped and that's restricted us a touch.
