Adebayor was left out of marketing comms ahead of it being widely known he would leave. I remember it well because I was ITK on it.
Possibly different because we wanted him out do were certain he'd leave. Doesn't mean it's the same every year unless they're certain they're off.

80 - If all Premier League games had ended after 80 mins this season, Tottenham (32 points) and West Brom (31) would form the top two. Slip.
    Ouch.

Looks like West Ham are going to win the Olympic white elephant.

Can having a stadium that's far too big for you actually end up crippling you?

Much like City, they are being gifted it. I find that staggering and sickening. It won't drag the club under or anything but yet to be convinced it'll work for the fans. Unless the scale allows them to offer dirt cheap prices.

It's a horrible looking stadium as well. I guess they have to use it for something but if it isn't bringing in money for the community via West Ham or whatever then I say fuck them, don't give it to them for nothing, just use it for sporting events or whatever through the year.

Quite. I have absolutely no idea how they get around state aid guidelines. City do by being tenants, but dunno how the WHU deal will work.

Barry Hearnes plan was, by the sounds of it, to fill the first tier with, basically, very, very cheap tickets.

You'd have to put them on the tannoy to be able to hear them in that stadium.

Unfortunately, that would be a money-losing strategy.
As Boris highlights, having this stadium makes West Ham a very attractive club for acquisition. So if they do get sold, some of the profits of west ham has to come back to the taxpayers.

How much in percentages isn't known, but I hope it's 90%.
  • Deleted user 6 December 2012 08:56:29
Bet Daniel Levy is pleased with himself. Somehow our interfering has meant that instead of paying hundreds of millions for the stadium, they get it free. Result!

Literally don't understand what's happened here. Very confused.

If ever there's a Premiership club crying out for a sugar daddy, it's West Ham. I think The-Bodybuilder has a good point.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

That might be the worst shout in The Premier League Thread's history.

Well, they're now the most appealing club for one, although probably more of the Glazer bum-rapey type. We only hope.

Itís a bit of a weird situation all round. Orient could clearly never fill it unless they did match day tickets for a quid but to give it to west ham its basically signing their death warrant and you cant imagine anyone being in favour of that.

Well if any other club get's a Glazer bum-rapey style they'd probably collapse and die.

Aren't they changing the law so that can't happen again?!

    Come and get it cumslingers!
