I actually think Rodgers is going a good job.

Allen was a shrewd buy and real quality. He's worth five Charlie Adams. And the rise of Sterling is very important, along with recognising the usefulness of the likes of Shelvey. And getting Suarez to score goals as well. These are al big steps forward.

Borini was a misstep though, and that's hurting them a lot. Still though, would take this team over Kenny's any day.

Borini hasn't really had a chance yet. He could still be a success.

I wouldn't say he hasn't had a chance, but yes, he could still prove to be a success.

Doesn't look right to me though.

I think if Rodgers gets that team into the top 6 this year, it's Manager of the Year stuff.

Over the long term I think he is exactly the right man for the job, given time and a bit of cash to fix the gaps in the team I think he will bring trophies to Merseyside.

At the moment I'd agree we're quite a way off the top 6, but given how open the league is below the top 3, i don't think it would take much for us to be in contention.

@faux_carnation I can see you being like a top half Wigan, rubbish for six months and then picking up for the end of the season.

If you make a couple of good signings in January, that could make all the difference.

Borini is only a few letters away from Voronin. Coincidence? I think not.

If I'm feeling a bit 'glass half-full' I would say that we've had a particularly unkind fixture list for the first half of the season, so theoretically we should start to pick up points now. Adding a couple of decent players in Jan should then give us a platform to push for Europe.

I like the Wigan analogy. Almost like Spurs in reverse :-P

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

Spurs who have finished in the top 5, five times out of the last seven.

I don't think Liverpool being able to scrape a place just above West Brom and Fulham is quite enough to give him manager of the year.

Also, surely it stands to reason that the fixture list is the same 2nd half of the season as the first? :)

I also think that a number of the young Liverpool players will evolve into really good players over the next few years, it's just a question of whether they are still at Liverpool when they do.
Kacaniklic is looking pretty decent. He used to be a Liverpool player until he was moved to Fulham as part of the deal that brought Konchesky to Liverpool.
Spectacular piece of business, that, and looking better all the time.

Teams get exhausted, injured, change in the January transfer window. And Arsenal go to shit after Christmas.

I still think Borini was a mistake, hope im proved wrong though. I also dont really understand the praise for allen, he is fine passing sideways but can never seem to perform a good forward pass. If we finish top 6 this season that will be seen as a success, if we add hunterlarr in jan that would be fantastic

He's very tidy, but he can pick a pass as well. Not quite being played in the right position at the moment, but that's because Lucas is out.

I agree he looks comfy on the ball. I am just not sure if he is the type of player we need. It is still early doors though so well see how he gets on

I don't know if any of you Spurs fans frequent SIMB, but it appears to have been hacked.

Substitute runs on the pitch to save a certain goal.
