Yeah, I'm an absolutely massive fanboy of his, maybe not best striker in the world but right up there with Messi and Ronaldo when he in the mood, just doesn't happen regularly enough to be up there, when he is though, just absolutely devastating.

As you say the average quality of his goals is ridiculous, rarely seems to score simply goals and even when he does its with a degree of class and skill such as his first tonight. Black belt in taekwondo which really shows. Would really love to see him in the PL.

Hart has always been vastly overrated. That isn't to say he's bad by any means, but this 'Best Goalkeeper in the World' stuff is utter nonsense. There are a pile of keepers in the PL alone who are much better than him.

    waffling on about that again?

Even sweeter that it was on ITV, who's commentators spent the entire game telling us he's overrated. Silly cunts.

Saw that alright, the lad reporting the story tomorrow in the mail is apparently quite reliable when it comes to info on City, not sure if he would improve their first 11 but would be a great addition regardless, hope he goes somewhere foreign.

Anyone else watching Neymar vs Falcao on ESPN?

@reddevil93 Yes, a shame it's just a friendly and not a qualifier though.

Tbf he's been shit for this season but so has our entire defence. Scb hates him, he called him arrogant the other day too. Lol

I think on the whole, the standard of goalkeepers around the world is the lowest it's been in my lifetime, I'm 27.

I really don't think De Gea is that far behind him. Am convinced he will end up the better goalie of the 2. Time will tell I guess.

As I was saying the other day, been no standout keeper in the league since VDS retirement. Other best 2 over the past 5 years have suffered massive losses in form (Reina and Cech), though Cech has had a bit of a resurgence since the start of 2012.

I don't think there is any disputing the fact that he's a little arrogant. He's been put on a pedestal by the English media and he's fucking loving it. Not saying he isn't a good goalkeeper either. But when you hear every 'expert' in the country banging on about how he's the dog's bollocks and then he puts in performances like the one tonight, it's only right he gets called on it.

Even though he's out atm injured, Vorm for Swansea has been really solid too.

@SuperCoolEskimo is that the kind of player they already have a few of? if baloltelli is off then i'd expect a poacher to replace him, not that he is a poacher

either that or Neymar for $200m :D

I think the issue is more the cretinous bunch of reader-chasing, self-aggrandising, England-hypeing 'experts' who are as much use as a llama in the same situation.

Joe Hart is a lot like De Gea in that his shot stopping is really excellent but he can be a bit iffy in general play, especially flapability on set pieces and dodgy positioning from time to time.

The difference is Hart is English so his excellent shot stopping ability gets translated as 'BEST KEEPA IN DA WURLD' and his vulnerabilities get overlooked (despite there being absolutely nothing wrong with saying he isn't the finished article yet). With De Gea his excellent shot stopping is begrudgingly given to him but his other vulnerabilities get translated as 'will never amount to anything cuz hes shit'.

To call Hart world class you're putting him alongside the likes of Buffon, Casillas, Kahn, Zoff, Schmeichal, Van Der Sar, Yashin etc. It shouldn't really be a point of contention that he isn't there yet.

It really is possible to be better than some and not as good as other in football. People always want to go to one extreme these days. IF you don't think they are the best in the world then you must think they are shit!

It's the nature of the beast these days....opinions are always polar opposites, no middle ground whatsoever.

    Friedel isn't better than Hart.

Friedel's quality comes from experience, and knowing his strengths and playing to them, which makes him very reliable, but there are some huge gaps in his game (that get wider as he approaches his 50s).

I would swap him for Hart in a nanosecond. Hart makes mistakes but I do think it's more about inexperience personally than actual ability gaps (which De Gea has). I think Hart will be one of, if not the best keeper in the word by the time he reaches 30 or so (which is when most keepers peak.

Hart's better than Krul too, who's also an excellent shot stopper, but has anti-De Gea syndrome. He comes for everything.

Hart's almost certainly the best keeper in the league imo.
