On a related note, Martinez has been fined £10k by the FA for these comments.

Registered 4 years agoIt was just a typical case of media pricks searching for a bit of controversy out of nothing. You just know it would have been all "RVP: I'm better than Rooney" this morning if he'd have answered any differently. -

Registered 10 years agoIt was more the way he answered than the answer itself. He could have brushed it off with a smile and "it'll be the other way round next time", but he seemed to feel the burden of diplomacy.
Plus he just strikes me as the type that would get Rooney's back up. -

Registered 8 years agoI doubt there's any tension, they've hardly even played together yet and Rooney did just assist him for a goal, for which he's probably quite grateful. -

Same guy who reffed our game against United the week before. 2 bad games in a row, but he won't be in League 2 this weekend.
Some pretty shit refereeing in our game at Fulhum the other day, surprised they're not on some sort of performance table.A wise man told me don't argue with fools

Oh right. Well, maybe, but I don't see much evidence of it. During his contract wrangle, Rooney complained about Utd not signing enough world class players. So we sign one and he doesn't like him? Hmm..

He said something similar at Arsenal. He believes assists are as important as goals. But then, as we've discovered, he's a self-involved lying cnut, so I'd try not to believe much of what he says.
He seems to be the kind of player who would be unhappy to "just be a goalscorer" imo. It's the Dutch way, he wants to be an all round player helping the team by creating and scoring.

Yeah, probably that and being more disposable now which is good. He can't act up now. Pity it wasn't before his new contract.ecureuil wrote:

Registered 10 years agoI think when Rooney said he wanted Man U to sign star players, he didn't mean strikers that were better than him.
I also don't think he really meant that at all when he said it anyway. It just sounded better than "I want more money". -

Registered 9 years agoFergie is becoming comedy gold, did you see him at the press conference last night after the game. He was either very drunk or very senile, looked like he'd lost most of his motor skills bless.
And he can't complain given the shocking decisions that have been made against City this year. I know we've been crap but a blatant handball where he admitted it afterwards and one of the shittest penalties I've ever seen given. -

United always get everything their own way, and even when they unjustly don't somehow the ref should be praised and lauded for getting the decisions wrong and Fergie is ALWAYS an utter arsehole with absolute power over everyone in the FA. -

That would be more relevant if it took into account the amount of injury time when teams were losing or drawing.

Registered 3 years agoIt would make an interesting statistical analysis. Just regress the amount of added time on an indicator for when the team is losing and see if the co-efficient is positive for certain teams. -

So what you think is United never get their own way, and even when they do the ref still shouldn't be praised and should get banned for being right, and Fergie is NEVER an arsehole and has absolutely no influence over anyone at all?
See what I did there?

Utd have a financial advantage over 85% of the league.
