Anyone think Rio was a bit lacking at the weekend. His lack of pace was quite something and perhaps not as sharp with reading the game now either. I don't think Silvestre is any better though. Good to see Fletcher back, he might offer some protection while they struggle through it. Teams should go for it more than usual, could be some tasty high score games.

The problem with rio is that he's not old enough. That and having a spine constructed off tissue paper, Elastoplast and the abstract concept of hope.

We're just going to have to attack the living fuck out of every game we play in the mean time and pray that we score more than we concede.

    Bums against the wall!

Think pundits were a bit harsh on Rio for Bale's goal. Few defenders could have kept pace with him there.

I remember one year more than half of our first eleven were out with groin strains. Im no high faluting medical guy, but it was pretty obvious someone was fucking up somewhere along the line.

Also, I dont know if its its your medical team or what but I would have thought it wouldnt be easy to prevent recurring instances of an existing injury.

I really doubt thats the actual issue but that aside, we've announced a deal involving a complete overhaul of the medical facilities in the last couple of weeks. They've not been upgraded or changed since Carrington was first built, which although cutting edge at the time is probably a good thing at this stage.

I agree, evena young Rio would have been flat out there. Just a great turn of pace and a nice finish.

Still think De Gea might have saved it though(yes I realise that is ridiculously harsh).

Every time Lindegaard let's a goal in I think De Gea would save it.

I think it's especially harsh he's been dropped for as long as he has given that the error he was ostensibly dropped for against Fulham was half Vidics fault imo.

Valencia, Scholes, Giggs and Carrick not travelling to Cluj, not sure if due to more injuries or not.

He was excellent against Galatasaray and Newcastle, saved our bacon with some cracking stops.

I like Lindegaard, he seems like a really cool chap, it's just he's a very safe option. He's never going to win you a game with a 10/10 performance like de Gea can, but then he's less prone to an error. It's tough, but long term I think de Gea will be a far, far superior keeper.

de Gea isn't going to learn the English game from the bench. Just play him, we saw the benefits of a long spell in net second half of the season where he was excellent.

And then De Gea plays and reminds everyone why he's on the bench so often.

Not going through all this again, but when he got a run last year he was brilliant. Turned in a few match winning performances.

But yeah, you say he wasn't for your internet lols.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's game. I hope it pisses it down. Winter MNF is the best.

Or he played a few games without screwing it up which them gave him an extended run. There's a reason he's not automatic first choice - he isn't obviously better than the player who cost 10% of what he cost.

He's still far, far too error prone. Even for his age.

    Erm, not really.

Like I said, bored to death of this, said everything I have to say. Too much of this thread has descended into talking about the magnificent quiffed Spaniard.

It's just a ridiculous gif with the flash of light as he saves it.

Picking any one singular save as proof of a goal keepers awesomeness is obviously silly anyway as most keepers will pull off a couple of blinding saves at various times in their career.

He has had quite a few brilliant stops but his shot stopping hasn't ever really been in question.

I don't really see how he can be defended so much by the United fans when overlord Fergie clearly doesn't rate him. Seems reasonably obvious to me that if he was so awesome he'd be playing every week.
