I'll concede De Gea is now looking like United's best player.

Lovejoy's everything that's wrong with football!

(well actually no, but I don't like him and I resent the way he's been earning money despite having no appreciable talent. Lovejoy is one of the many things wrong with telly!)

The arrival of Mario at least brings us one of my favourite ever Daily Fail captions:

Arrival: Mario Balotelli (in the red T-shirt) gets out of a car at Melwood ahead of his medical at Liverpool

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2731729/Mario-Balotelli-way-Liverpool-Friday-won-t-eligible-face-former-club-Manchester-City-Monday-night.html

Ahh, he's the one in the red t-shirt...

Even I can't not crack a smirk at that one :)

You were utterly wrong about him though.

Looking at a list of the players in United's squad is a bit of an eye opener. So much unfulfilled potential and wasted money. De Gea, Rooney, Mata and Van Persie are good, the rest vary from average to so shit no one will actually pay anything at all for them (Anderson). Clearly they have the cash but it's obvious that the lack of Champions League has been a bigger hindrance than they or anyone else expected. It will take years of rebuilding and that's only if they stick with Van Gaal and don't resort to Giggs when things don't improve instantly.

Supposedly Balotelli is accepting a 50% pay cut to move to Liverpool...

If this transfer doesn't happen now I'm going to be in bits.

Can we stop with this no Champions League being a hindrance nonsense? It's fucking retarded.

What about all the other years we've had CL football and not been able to attract the players we've been after? And how do you explain the likes of PSG, Monaco, City and Anzhi getting huge names to join when they had no CL football?

MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY

Just because United have a lot of money, doesn't mean the Glazers are particularly willing to part with it. When United are on direct competition with other clubs, they're not prepared to pay the premium to get them.

Have you thought it might be a lack of Europa League that's hindering Utd?

Spurs fans - chances of Davies starting tomorrow?

Liverpool fans - chances of Can starting tomorrow?

Arsenal fans - chances of Giroud starting tomorrow?

Hull fans - chances of Rosenior starting tomorrow?

I may need to make a few FF changes...

    Cheers!

Walcott's not back until the end of the month, right? So Sanchez will likely play on the wing instead of him, so Giroud will probably start. I think. But I'm not an Arsenal fan, just a FF player.

Slim I'd say. Didn't start the first game and by all accounts was a bit suspect on Thursday. I think he'll have to win his place from Rose.

Shouldn't be too hard though :)

He's better than Sanogo, surely? Sanogo has never scored a Premier League goal for Arsenal.

Yeah, that didn't stop Sanogo starting against Palace and City. Giroud looks well below par, fitness wise. But he's a weird one, cos he generally looks a bit shit all the time. I have no idea tho.

    Rosenior won't start tomorrow.

Probably the same line up as against QPR (except Quinn or Meyler for Snodgrass)

I'm only just catching up with motd from last weekend (may as well make use if sleepless nights) . How the fuck were Utd reduced to fielding 5 young uns in the squad, 2 on the pitch?

A lot of the stuff about British managers just seemed to be more along the lines of Foreign =different therefore better. I'd be inclined to not agree - the reason certain managers keep coming back is because they are good at getting clubs to a certain safe level. I mean, look at the amount of teams that end up safe in the premier league then decide to swap to a new exciting manager, and suddenly it all crashes down.

Also holding up hoddle as some sort of footballing guru is laughable. He may also have the opinion that the best players make the best managers but I don't think it's a universal thought.

I will agree that it does seem to be a bit of an old boys club\managerial merry go round at times, though.
