Utd are shorter odds than Arsenal to win the league. That's mental.
  • Deleted user 14 August 2014 11:10:24
Not really considering Arsenal had a huge chance of winning the league last year and United weren't even close to coming top four.

They haven't changed that much in the summer.

I think you're actually agreeing with me here.
  • Deleted user 14 August 2014 11:12:03
Perhaps, although not sure therefore why you think it's "mental".

I'm saying it's crazy that the bookies think Utd are more likely to win the league than Arsenal. Is that not what you're saying?

I'm confused as to why you are confused that he thinks it odd.
  • Deleted user 14 August 2014 11:15:47
Oh, I misread your sentence about the odds somehow.

    Nevermind.

I'm not entirely surprised either way really. Don't forget bookie odds aren't strictly a measure of "likelihood", they are also massively based on betting behaviours.

Chico Flores and Pablo Hernandez have fucked off to Qatar. What sort of shape will Swansea be in if Bony is sold? Have they brought in anyone decent?

These guys are the reason why United are shorter odds than Arsenal.

I don't know why I always look at Lawrenson's predictions every single week of every single season.

"Typical top half team" vs "Typical bottom half team" = 2-0
"Top half team" vs "Top half team" = 1-1
"Bottom half team" vs "Bottom half team" = 1-0, 0-1 or 1-1

Be more adventurous you morose twat, not every game is as predictable as dull as you always make out.

That's a shame. Hernandez is a great player. I assume they've gone to play for Laudrup?

EDIT: No, they havnt - weird.

Lawro has said he doesn't think United will make top four, which is a reasonable stick-your-neck-out claim, although smells a bit of Liverpool.

Not to go full Superbob, but... United are quite capable of pipping Liverpool to fourth this year in my view.

So are we all assured Chelsea will win it? I can't look past them.

    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    City
    Liverpool

Chelsea/Arsenal/City in any order for the top 3 barring a calamity. Yes, Chelsea would be my pick (though I massively favour Arsenal out of those three).

Then Liverpool/United/Spurs plus Everton and A.N. Other Massively Overperforming One Season Wonder. (in any order)

No way. Burnley/QPR are the two fighting it out for last place.

Can you imagine rewinding five years and telling your past self that in the near future, people would be putting their necks on the line by boldly predicting United would scrape into fourth?

Amazing how quickly an empire crumbles.

Sort if starting to think Utd are going to get top 4. I think because of the number of quality teams we have the one who misses out on any European football will come back and have a strong season and then fade away when they have to keep going on two fronts.

That said I think if that team is Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs then this is more likely to happen but still, I think it'll be a factor

I really, really hope Arsenal win this season if we don't, chelsea are just terrible and I never wanna see Nasri win anything again the cunt.

I'll go for Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool. Then Utd, Everton and Spurs.

I think Man U will compete better this time so top 4 should be a reasonable target without European football. Is Van Gaal sticking or twisting with that squad ? Pre season performances might not translate to league form for many in that squad.

Allowed to sample the squad in training though.

I'd have been fairly confident of a comfortable top 4 finish if we'd actually done the business in the transfer market we threatened to. All went a bit quiet after we got the Shaw and Herrera deals done and we still haven't replaced Vidic and Ferdinand.

Mark my words, you'll see Carrick covering as a centre back by the 2nd or 3rd game of the season. I still think we have a manager who can get the very best out of the players we have though, something I definitely couldn't say last season.
