Fat Sam should be judged quite harshly over Carroll.

But don't worry, they just paid £12milmfof a 25 year old striker who's never played outside of Mexico, cost only £2mil 8 months ago, and played decent enough to score a mouth-watering 3 goals in the WC against relatively decent opposition.

    That some scouting right there.
Yeah it's awful isn't it? If anyone from WHU even tries to say they were watching him before the WC they should spontaneously combust on the spot.

Posting this just because a few in here doubted the claims that De Boer would genuinely have come to Tottenham, and that the club actively chose Poch over him.

"I was really close to a move to Tottenham, but they chose Pochettino," he told AT5.

"It's the same in a corporate company. Eventually the board will vote and they came out with Pochettino.

"If they wanted me, I would probably have said 'yes'."

De Boer is contracted to Ajax until 2017 and led the Dutch giants to their - and his - fourth consecutive Eredivisie title last season, a feat unmatched in Netherlands.
Not convinced Levy made the right choice there.

De Boer would have been a much bigger risk than Pochettino in my opinion. At Ajax everything is set up for him and he is in an environment he is beyond comfortable in. his boss, his coaches are all people he has known for years.

Obviously it isn't something you can really counter until he does move but I think this is probably a case where Premier League experience counted for a lot.

Unconvinced by Debuchy there's better right backs out there. 11 Million for a 29 year old Newcastle are laughing.

Yeah, don't get it. Two years younger than Sagna. Maybe Wenger's going senile

I think it was Aurier vs Debuchy. Debuchy was probably preffered because he has faith in Jenks/Bellerin or really fancies this Manquillo guy and needed a stop gap for a few years whilst they get ready.

Or maybe he was concerned at the lack of Frenchies around. Who knows really.

Maybe what we need is to start a war with Italy, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Netherlands... everyone.

Swansea will be fine. They have Marvin Emnes' magnificent hair and I hear Bafétimbi Gomis is no slouch in that department either. And they have some player called Jazz Richards. How can he not be brilliant with a name like that?

Tony Fernandes hasn't learnt his lesson it seems.

I think Newcastle have done really well to get £11m for him.

Yeah, say what you like about Ashley, but he knows how to get top dollar for his players.

And speaking of Newcastle, two fans on their way to follow the team during pre-season were on the Malaysian plane yesterday.

Harry Redknapp: Ryan Giggs told me if he'd been manager this year Rio would have been his No 1 centre-half.

Redknapp is such a nob sometimes.
