What recent defeats? Honestly to hear people talk you'd think we'd lost 5 games in a row to lose a 10 point lead or something. We lost one game in 18 PL fixtures and that was to a Chelsea side that has a fabulous record against teams at the top.
badly worded. I meant defeat in the title race.

They won't necessarily buy tat, but they might have to go for slightly less obvious targets than the ones they were failing to buy last year. Lots of big sides are going to be rebuilding this summer.

Suarez wants to win. He REALLY wants to win. If someone offers him the chance to do that at the highest levels, he'll leave.

It's the closest he'll ever get while at Liverpool and I don't think that is a particularly anti-Liverpool statement.

Liverpool need some defenders theres only so many games you can outscore the opposition. Rodgers will go again next season.

I really think with the glaring exception of Andy Carroll we've done nothing too mental of late.

I noticed that. We're all arguing based on pure conjecture. In my defence I didn't start it, but I did rise to the bait.

Anyone know if Firmino is any good? Amazing looking stats in the Bundesliga but I've never seen him play.

Is that the replacement for the Anglo-Italian cup?

In as much as the British side never wins it, yes!

The important difference is Italy don't even bother to turn up.

Edit: Shit, they turned up. My Italian friend convinced me the other day that they didn't because they had their own Italian equivalent.

I think the CL pull is a tad exaggerated.
Yes it does mean you can go after those top players, but crazy wages and price (remember, the club is still following the moneyball philosophy) means probably around 2-3 top quality players that will improve your strongest starting 11. It is still too much of a financial cost to overhaul the squad in one window.

The question is will Rodgers do the right thing and ensure 1-2 of those 2-3 are defensive players? Rather than more attacking force.

The good news is that there will be quite a few available players; squaddies from Bayern, Barca and Madrid and now Liverpool are a viable option. But their wages though?

I do also think they'll keep Suarez. However after what may be long world cup and the likelihood of Liverpool not winning the league (but challenging) he'll probably leave at the end of next season.

Do people really think United are going to finish 7th again next season? No distractions which helps new manager get ideas in place as it Saturday to Saturday each week.

New manager has to get CL to be successful for me.
Also need 4-6 players with most being in defence. Spurs will have EL plus new manager and Everton will have to spend wisely now in EL also.

Top 4 is going to be interesting next season regardless

The scouse Cafu meets the Brazilian Flanno. Coutinho and Lucas have obviously been buzzing meeting their capitan in Liverpool.

He thinks flanno is superb. No doubt he won't get go the World Cup but he has to be in serious contention, Imagine Ashley cole getting picked and he lost his place to a right. LoL

I think it's extremely generous to put spurs as title contenders next year.

Realistically we'll be challenging for 4th with arsenal, liverpool and utd I reckon.
I think Spurs challenging for 4th is generous. We'd be lucky not to drift next year. Just remember: any complaints about Spurs' performances will result the soul-crushing response "shoulda stuck with Tim". Fair warning, you'll agree.

I don't understand the suggestions that Liverpool won't do well again next year. Will they forget how to play? Will Rodgers become crap? Or is the suggestion based on Suarez leaving? Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Can only see them improving.

Alan Pardew on the game tomorrow:

He said: "They have been brilliant. They have been the team of the season, probably, regardless of whether they win it or not.

"It's a tough game for us because at home, they have been awesome. They have got real pace in the team and in the modern game, that kills you.

"You look at Bayern Munich - it's real pace everywhere. Real Madrid - the top teams, you have got to have that pace.

"It's something that as a manager, you long for and hopefully, we can improve a little bit on in our team."
Newcastle will be putting up a hell of a fight tomorrow then. Why doesn't he just marry Liverpool.

I'm suprised Pardew is still in charge to be honest. Terrible run of form after christmas, butted Mayler for me anybody else would have been sacked by now.
