I still have a lot of love torres. He does look awful on the pitch now though. He wasnt playing well when we sold him either, had a bad last season at Liverpool

I remember hearing quite a lot were I live that the physios at Anfield had been calling for Torres to be sold for about a year before he left. Apparently his Knees are buggered.

All hearsay really but I was told that a lot.

Even when you include losing 20m on Carroll as part of the deal, getting Suarez in for Torres is one of the best decisions made in the history of anything ever.

Though that 20m effectively wipes out the earnings from a season in the Champions League.

Another landmark in this era of fiduciary magic at Anfield.

I think his behaviour had put a few teams off. Some clubs have morals/standards, I guess.

@FWB Bollocks. Those teams just weren't sure he'd be as prolific outside of the Dutch league.

Just read about the United match, good draw for them but 26% possession and an away goal...

It was both. His behaviour had hardly been impeccable and the cash wanted was a lot for someone coming from a league where successful translation to English football was patchy at best. It was an educated gamble by Liverpool but a gamble no less. Fair play to Suarez and Rodgers for sorting it out this season but it's only now that it looks like paying off. Up till now, it looked like too much hassle.

I read that he was hurried back to fitness by the medical team and told rafa that he was match fit when he wasn't, thereby terminally knackering him.

After that, the age old phrase started to be rolled out, kindling vague hope to be dashed: "Torres looks up for it today"

I'd put both Lamela and Ozil in the flop squad.
Excuses can be made for both, and nothing to say they won't have excellent second seasons, but as things stand, they've been flops.

Ozil has created the most chances of any Arsenal player. Definitely not a flop, even with his indifferent form. Although, that's probably due to Wenger running him into the ground more than anything.

Chelsea being investigated about putting undue pressure on Vitesse not to qualify for the CL and maybe some other stuff.

    According to BBC

I don't think you can call Ozil a flop by any means, and Lamela is only a youngster.

Spurs to get a new stadium - exciting news for Spurs fans though it must stick in the craw that West Ham are walking into one for nothing (also Arsenal fans I would think, seeing as how they've been financially hamstrung for years over their move).

It's not exactly news, but it's nice to know it's progressing.

Anyone who's paid tax in the last decade should be annoyed about West Ham getting that stadium. It's a disgrace.

Yep, the way I read the news this morning was that it's now definitely happening, which is positive. Levy did seem to hint at a tightening of belts in the transfer market though, which might be interesting.

Personally, I find the West Ham move disgusting.

Our revenge will come seeing them playing in a half empty stadium with no atmosphere, week in, week out.

It says finances now mean that a new stadium in 2017 is feasable.

That's a long from "we're building a new stadium RIGHT NOW and it will be finished by x or x date."
  • Deleted user 2 April 2014 10:55:27
Anyone that's been to Spurs in the last year will have seen massive areas cordoned off with signs that say "this is where the new stadium will be", and diggers and cranes and such. We all know is was being built. But it's nice to have a date yeah (although I'm sceptical about that one tbh).

I think the thing that has held back official announcements was that Levy wanted to wrap up sponsorship, and he wanted us to be in the CL to do that to get more money. But he's now accepted that isn't doing to happen to is just getting on with it. My guess is AIA are the sponsors and it's part of our new kit deal.

But feasible is rather vague, innit. But still, be great to see it underway.
  • Deleted user 2 April 2014 11:10:24
Yeah, they're being vague on purpose. I predicted a while back we wouldn't actually get to sit in it this decade, and I still have a hunch that's the case.

Barca have been given a transfer ban for the next two windows. International transfer of minors or something.

Blimey. Mind you, Chelsea's didn't really stand up.
