And I fail to believe match shirts are made out of the same material as replicas. Every player would be one big sweaty mess.

At least leeds can take solace in the fact that they arent the only team who dont know whether they have sacked someone or not.

Match shirts are far better quality than the replica's. I've had a couple over the years and they've been nothing like the replicas.

The stitching is the main difference between match and replica balls. Stitches are virtually invisible on match balls, keep their shape and firmness much longer.

Oviedo tweeted a video of himself working on an exercise bike. Three weeks after a double leg break. Well done that doctor.

    Steven Gerrard on Raheem Sterling
Tbf, Raheem has 2 kids, which means he has a functioning penis, which at Gerard's age is strange and frightening.

I can't wait for our riveting game against Palace. It's sure to be a corker full of crosses and more crosses.

"Wojciech misjudged the situation but there was no clear desire to make a foul, he misjudged the ball."

Bit like Shawcross then ey, Arsene? Hypocritical cunt.
  • Deleted user 20 February 2014 15:56:45
Another way of saying that is that he was reckless, which is a red card potentially.

Just because you don't have a clear desire to commit a foul doesn't mean you can't be sent off. You'd think he'd know the rules at this point.

He has one kid, not two.

Surely a foul is a foul, regardless of intent? Obviously it's worse if the player goes in with the intention of hurting the player, but I'm pretty sure that never happens (possibly Charlie Adam aside ;-) ).
  • Deleted user 20 February 2014 16:05:08
A foul is a foul, but red cards are usually indicative of some sort of sinister intent.

    I apologize.

    The penis point stands however.

Isn't the rule that the keeper has to be sent off too as he is the last defender?

Or being the last man / denying a clear goalscoring opportunity?

I didn't see the game to be fair, but I assumed as it was a keeper being sent off it was for that reason.

So I could well be completely wrong.
  • Deleted user 20 February 2014 16:22:56
In the old days even the last man thing was about intent. The idea was that if you intentionally denied a goal-scoring opportunity then you'd get sent off, like a handball on the line. That made sense.

Of course that required judgment and common sense, and we can't have that in football, so instead we have a stupid blanket rule that ruins games on a regular basis, but yay for "consistency".

EDIT: Something got deleted first time for some reason...

If we didn't have consistency you'd all be complaining about that as well.

But that's the point, even with these seemingly black and white rules, there are inconsistencies. Another day he wouldn't have been sent off. Haven't seen it again though.

It's also pretty daft to try and compare this and a tackle like Shawcross'.

'they' are, apparently reviewing the triple punishment thing this summer.
  • Deleted user 20 February 2014 16:33:37
I agree it's a dumb arse rule. It should just be a penalty however then some arsehole somewhere will point out it's the last man so should be sent off ....

Just seen it. No doubt it's a pen, but I'm not convinced Robben was getting on the end of that touch. Pen was probably punishment enough I'd say.

I always thought it was a red for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity rather than being the last man. I know most of the time it's probably the same thing, but not always.
