How does that relate to a Manchester Utd fan? The other way round, I could see.

@BB and TH - Wenger got a shoeing over the last few years for playing the kids when needed (Craig Eastmond started in midfield at Anfield FFS!) and now he's trying to make sure we don't have to do that again, and that's still wrong?

One extreme doesn't justify another. I don't even see how such an extreme case of playing Eastmond, a kid not good enough for the PL even when he reaches his peak, is related to this.

Wenger got a shoe in when he played the likes of Squillaci, Silvestre and even purchasing Park. This is exactly in the same league.

I can't believe it's transfer deadline day and we're talking about this...really, the best thing is for everyone to just ignore xuiton and get on with it, IMO

Difference is, this is a 6 month loan to cover a few long term injuries.

I don't trust stats to show that a player is good when we buy them, so I'm definitely not going to trust stats to prove that he's not.

Equally how a player has played for a team before doesn't mean how they'll play for your team. I'll wait to see what he's like for us, and I remain optimistic that he'll do a good enough job.

I'm happy enough with Kallstrom as the signing that he is - to help cover us for 6 months. If we'd paid 10m and paying him 75k a week I wouldn't be over the moon. But it's a short-term option to fill a gap we have.

We really needed a striker. We're not going to get one though, so I could moan about that all day or just accept it (which in truth should have been what we all did back on January 1st) and hope that Kallstrom can do the job that Wenger clearly thinks he can.

Welsh press reporting Swansea attempting to get Chadli on loan. I've been pretty impressed with him on the few occasions I've seen him, surprised to see him seemingly surplus to requirements?

I don't mean he got a shoe in due to their wages and being unable to shift them (which was its own problem), but the core fact they weren't good enough to do the job required of them for the level the club were competing at. They too, were brought in as squad cover to do a decent job here and there.... till injuries meant they featured mere than expected and then couldn't even do the job.

I'm talking about talent, not wages.

    Which is a fair assessment.
My opinion is based on what I've seen in the past anyways from him anyways, and sat I remember wasn't bad..wasn't good either though.

But as you say, should've just accepted we weren't gonna get a striker (or CB, why dies everyone forget we need a CB?) and accept our lot.
Wasn't even looking for a CM, so I guess that's a "bonus", even though he's likely to be like that keeper we have who doesn't feature.

My case is if we weren't gonna get anyone in, might as well recall some loan players. It's better than having nothing at all, surely?

@Trowel Lennon can play on the left, as does Eriksen at the moment and Sigurdson. Think we were linked with another winger the other day too. Not sure if Townsend can play left wing but he's coming back to fitness soon too.

Well, I'm sure Wenger is well aware of their football capabilities - maybe the likes of Coquelin still fall short quality-wise, or don't have the right attitude. Maybe Wenger feels that it's better to have an experienced but average player as back-up for a set of crucial games, rather than a talented but inexperienced maverick.

    Dan Roan ✔ @danroan
Have it on good authority that Arsenal were offered Berbatov & could have signed him, but spurned the chance. Wonder if they'll regret it

Probably pretty high wages without much of a goalscoring return. Sounds sensible to me.

I think it was probably more wengers sense of integrity, what with being so opposed to loan signings.

    Oh.. wait..

That works brilliantly as his comment was about loan signings from a team in the same lea....oh, wait.

Sounds like Liverpool are getting screwed on Konoplyanka. Great scenes.
