We're going to win the Champions League anyway. Who gives a fuck where we end up in the table?

Given up on CL already? With mata and possibly another signing before the window ends its a very real prospect surely.

I still think that they have to go into every game to win it now. Perhaps not city at OT, which will be 0-12.
Lets not take the piss. City's away form has been patchy this year. I'm reasonably confident we can finish that game with a single digit scoreline.

Absolutely. I like the way you've tried David Moyes in the manager role myself. Crazy stuff, but hey, the seasons's a write off so why not?

When you're so tied to your stock value there is no such thing as a write-off!
The stock value has to be taken with a large pinch of salt though. The shares are only class B and carry 10% of the voting power of class A shares.

It's why the club is so hard to put a valuation on. There was a blog post done recently by andersred on United's financial situation and the cost of failure. Was quite interesting and optimistic towards the prospect of the Glazers having to spend money soon.

A joke's a joke, but I won't have that. David Moyes is the salt of the Earth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the share price doesn't matter a fucking bit until the twats try and sell us.

Nah. There are far bigger cracks that need papering over first.

No, but it's a start. If it does go through most fans will love it (I will) but it is one of those signings that looks to be done just to please fans!

We will still need an established CM, and if Vidic goes a replacement for him and Rio as well.

Still need two wing backs, CM, CB and a winger.

It isn't going to solve all of our problems overnight, but it indicates that we are serious about sorting our shit out and overhauling the squad. It doesn't hurt that he can play a bit too. It would be a fantastic signing and it will give us a massive boost heading into the second half of the season.

I still think Evra has some life in him! Rafael can be a liability at time but he's been a lot better than he used to be!

Yes, he's cup-tied to Chelsea as he has played in two Champions League matches.

Mata is a great signing. Still nailed on that Rooney will be gone in the summer though, shame.

It's clear Chelsea don't see Utd as a rival and are willing to sell them one of their best players. I can guarantee that if Utd we're challenging for the title or even the top 4, there is no way Chelsea would let Mata go to them.

It's a short-sighted view though, Man U have the money to put things right over the long term and Mata is a substantial first brick in a team rebuild.

Having watched the first quarter of an hour of this game, signing Mata is going to be like using an elastoplast to mend the Titanic.

    Mata to replace Rooney?

I still say Moyes needs a summer transfer window and half a season of bedding in before he can be judged. This is the endurance phase.

Moyes will be fine once the Manu fans accept the golden years are over. 23 years was a good run. They will now be playing for European spots for the foreseeable future, which they will clearly be good enough for for the next few years. But first or second every year as an expectation is fully over, and if that is a given then Moyes will do well enough.
