    Think I've lost my voice.

    What a game.

5 pts clear after ten games. It is actually unbelievable what Wenger has done thus far. And he was under severe pressure just 9 games ago right?

Unbelievable that a team (that finished third last season) that contains the likes of Ozil, Koscielny, Giroud, Cazorla, Wilshere, a good Ramsey, Rosicky, Arteta etc is doing well against a bunch of teams with new managers and Liverpool?

They're a good, good side are Arsenal (and the above is without Podolski and Walcott remember). Find it pretty easy to believe where they are tbh, but that's just me.

As you say, "just" 9 games since he was under some form of pressure. A long, long way to go yet. Chelsea and Man City will soon decrease that gap, and Man Utd are starting to show signs of improvement.

I am a Palace fan to be fair - but seriously look the team and it suddenly looks so good, from nowhere. Say what you like but Wenger knows how to manage a team and keep shareholders happy.

Agreed that they've surpassed expectations, especially bearing in mind they've had some injuries to key players too.

You could argue they've had a relatively easy first quarter of the season though, Spurs and Liverpool at home aside.

Not sure it will last but for the time being it is a nice change to he last few seasons so far

I do also have a bit of a soft spot for Palace too, only a few stops away from Selhurst atm. Also met Tony Pulis the other day and he mentioned that he's really hoping he gets the Palace job, although not his biggest fan his style could work well.

Giroud seems to be scoring more consistently this season, add Ramsey's incredible form onto that, plus Ozil and it makes sense they're top.

I think the palace / arse connection has been there for a good few years. For me Ian Wright made me forever an fan of arse from a distance.

Giroud was unlucky not to score today too I think but so was Henderson and Sturridge

Before my time as a fan (Aussie Londoner fan, don't judge me!) but that is very true!

And yet it was (correctly) argued on just the previous page that, in order to be title contenders, you have to beat the mid/bottom-half table teams. Which is exactly what we've done so far. The fact that we've also beaten the two top-half teams we've played is a bonus, and we should certainly be confident of getting a result at OT next week.

Last season we showed remarkable consistency towards the end, and didn't lose any key players over the summer for the first time in years. That, coupled with the significant improvement of certain players (Ramsey being the standout) is what's led to the brilliant start. The only issue is whether the players have the legs - it's already been established that our first 11 is a match for any team in the league, and most teams in Europe. But I reckon most of them will be knackered or injured by January, and then we'll be screwed.

    I didn't imply you weren't title contenders.

Wasn't just aimed at you tbh, but at everyone making the "haven't faced any big tests" argument.

In the PL, every game is a big test imo. Just look at last week's win against relegation favourites Crystal Palace, was probably our toughest so far this season.

To really be title contenders what you have to do, see, is to score more points over the course the season than the other teams. It's pretty straightforward.

Of course you could always win it on goal difference, but that's not very contendy.

Alan Oliver doesn't have a clue nowadays (he used to be the chief sports writer for the major local paper) so I'd take that with a big pinch of salt.
