Two contenders for goal of the month. One touch passing of Arsenal and that one.

Im hoping sunderland but either will do.

Not that it ever happens, despite me praying for it at the start of every season.

Christ. We better not knee-jerk and sack Holloway though. Give him the season - we shouldn't be there anyway.

This is kind of why I almost sort of hope McClaren doesnt fluke us up through the playoffs. We would get absolutely ruined and he would, inevitably, get the flick and the whole merry go round would start again.

Can't stand Holloway, but bringing in 25 players who were no better than the current squad was really bizzare.

Nick has it right though. Get promoted through some luck and two decent players (speroni and zaha) then get fired for your troubles. I guess he will get a decent package but what then for palace? Christ not cheeky chappie 'arry.

    They might get venables back?!

@Youthist He completely ruined the side that got promoted though through some awful signings. His record for Palace since last Xmas isn't great either so I would argue that Palace are probably best getting rid rather than sticking with him.

Really?! Like who? If they're homegrown and U21, then they don't have to be named.... Some of those maybe?

Glad I watched that. 5 on "over 4.5 goals" paid off handsomely too!

Just a bit of fun lads! Let us at least enjoy being utter shite for 38 games then sack him. NO way can we stay up anyway - whoever they bought in. As I said, we never should have been there. Brighton should have taken care of us down at their place in the second leg of the semi, and they would currently be doing a decent enough job in the prem. Instead, here we are.

I think, for a few seasons running, the playoff team did the best out of all the teams that went up (that may not stand up to scrutiny).

Also, yeah, ive probably mentioned this before but the championship, basically finishes according to spend. You have to spend 20m a year on wages to finish in the playoffs and anything above that gains you places.

We, over the last few years, have been one of about four or five teams to finish above where our spend should be and, tbh, one of the reasons I feel clough was harshly treated. By spend we should have been finishing fifth bottom every year.

    From the BBC:

Darren Bent managed just 13 touches for Fulham tonight - he was on the field for 77 minutes.
    What a waste of space.

I think the playoff system is a bit borked. Especially now the Championship has so much of a financial disparity between the top few clubs and everyone else. The idea of the sixth best club in the Championship competing in the Premiership is a bit unrealistic.

Saying that, do we have any examples of playoff winners sticking around long term? Happy to defer to someone's knowledge here.
Last year it was the champions who got relegated and the play off winners that had the highest finishing position. Not sure how often that happens though.

It amazes me that there are still numerous villa fans moaning about his lack of inclusion in our squad. Kozak wasn't great on Saturday but he put himself about twice as well as Bent would have.

You are a factory of sadness.

This has always been Bents m.o though. Last year he as a better goals to touches ratio than Rvp (or was that the year before). Either way he has never been one to touch the ball except when taking a shot at goal . Some years he got 25 or so and other years f all. I think he is now pretty much done though in the English top flight.

That would be great - only in that it will give Norwich a hand to reach safety.

Is it too soon to start hoping for a 17th place finish?
