Seems like Poyet really is going to take over at Sunderland. Can't see that ending well. In fact, it's probably going to be a car crash.

When Vicente left Brighton he apparently said Poyet was “the worst person I’ve come across in football”:

“For me he is a selfish person, very egocentric. I say that because it’s how I feel.

“I won’t talk badly about my team-mates, because they have been fantastic with me. What I think is unacceptable is that the manager makes fun of his players. I’ve seen things here that I have never seen in my career. If you miss with a shot in training, he makes fun. For me, that is unacceptable in football.”

It is a bit odd - these are grown-up sportsman, a bit of "making fun" of their abilities shouldn't make them cry inside - but at the same time, a manager's job is to inspire and motivate the players, and openly ridiculing them certainly won't help matters.

Barmy appointment. I can only assume he was the only one interested.

I dunno. Replacing a temperamental, inexperienced foreign manager with a temperamental, inexperienced foreign manager seems like a plan with no flaws.

Pulis very publicly ruled himself out with the equivalent of a big 'fuck no', so you can only assume most of the usual suspects didnt want another relegation on their CV.

I don't really know what happened with Poyet at Brighton, but he seemed quite highly rated as an assistant when he was at Spurs with Ramos, and many were disappointed he wasn't kept on when Ramos got sacked.

The rumours are that he was a like a cross between di canio and hoddle.

This is what Vicente said about him:

“For me he is a selfish person, very egocentric. I say that because it’s how I feel.

Weirdly at Spurs he was reputed to be the good cop to Ramos' bad, known for getting on really well with the players and being hugely motivational.

We'll soon find out. He might as well have been managing on mars as brighton for all the coverage they get. In the premiership, theres nowhere to hide and sunderland certainly would never be able to keep anything under wraps like brighton managed to.

Two racist managers in a row is quite impressive as well.

But did he do a poo on the dressing room floor?

IIRC, it was his reaction to that which caused the initial schism. One of his players took a crap on the floor of palaces changing room as a 'welcome to brighton' present and he, understandably, wasnt very impressed.

As a Palace fan, going down there in the second leg of the play-off semi and turning them over 0-2 (thanks Zaha) was fantastic (first leg was 0-0 and I had assumed we were out after losing 3-0 down there earlier last season). Quite how we did it I have no idea.

Was that the game where the shit occurred?

Yeah, Holloway said something along the lines of not needing to worry about motivating his team for the match because of it

Janujaz to Barca on a free at the end of the season apparently.

Can't blame him for wanting Champions League football.
  • Deleted user 8 October 2013 12:55:49
If Suarez took a shit on the dressing room floor, king Kenny would have t shirts printed I guess.

I think the story is more they're interested if he doesn't sign his contract.

Something for him to think about though, it's got to be tempting.

Also means United will have to up his wage offer significantly if they want him to sign now.
